This has\nbeen the modus operandi of all Muslim parties that successive governments have\nhad to align with. We look at the political opportunism in SLMC &amp; its\nleader. He leaves UPFA in 2014 December crossing over to join the Joint\nOpposition that canvassed for Maithripala Sirisena in January 2015 Presidential\nElections. He contested under SLMC &amp; UNFGG and entered Parliament. Shipping (1994-2004) exactly what is the development or progress\nthat he brought to this critical revenue centre of the Government?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The most controversial of\nappointments was that of being made the Minister of Justice after crossing over\nfrom UNP in 2010. The many irregularities committed during this tenure was a\nkey reason to request governments not to appoint a minority minister (elected\nor from national list) as Justice Minister because the likelihood of fairplay\nwas unlikely.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It is the fault of governments\nfor appointing politicians who are representing an ethnic political party to\npositions where they are unlikely to be fair by all ethnic communities given\nthat their mandate is to serve only their community first &amp; foremost.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ironically,\nthe cross overs \u2013 were not made in the interest of the Muslim population or has\nbenefited the Muslim population one bit. These were all personal gains and for\npersonal perks and to plug personal friends and cronies of one community into\nState positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nsumming up a comment by Yvonne Ridley is suitable to describe the plight of\nMuslims at the hands of corrupt and opportunist Muslim politicians who love to\ndrum the \u2018minority\u2019 \u2018racism\u2019 \u2018discrimination\u2019 card not for anything else \u2013 only\nto divert media and international attention for themselves and gain cheap\npolitical publicity. This is really no different to the theatrics that the\nmajority politicians play as well.
