Maaveerar Naal or Great Heroes Day has been commemorated since\n27 November 1989 with a Heroes Week held annually from 21st<\/sup>ending\n26th<\/sup>November\n(Prabakaran\u2019s birthday). It is a LTTE event to remember every LTTE combatant\nkilled. While the LTTE propagandists shed crocodile tears to the world that the\nGoSL denies them to commemorate dead Tamils, what these LTTE propagandists do\nnot disclose is that they FORBID Tamils from commemorating Tamils killed by\nLTTE & this is a long list. Ironically, some clueless foreign politicians\nattend these LTTE commemorations & probably some have already accepted\ninvitations for 2021 events. But, what everyone conveniently ignores is that\nthe Mahaveerar Naal ceremonies do not shed a tear for the likes of Alfred Duraiappah,\nLakshman Kadiragamar, Sarojini Yogeswaran or even the leaders of the other\nTamil militant groups that LTTE killed to reign supreme. If Prabakaran & LTTE had an objective to create an Eelam for\nTamils \u2013 why kill their own people including leaders of other Tamil militant\ngroups fighting for the same cause?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maaveerar\nNaal is to only commemorate LTTE dead<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maaveerar\nNaal is NOT TO commemorate Tamil civilians, Tamil politicians, Tamil academics,\nTamil public servants, Tamil clergy, Tamil children or even Tamil combatants\nwho were all killed by LTTE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\ndo we call event to commemorate these Tamils?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LTTE\u2019s first victim was a Tamil \u2013 Mayor of Jaffna, Alfred Duraiappah<\/strong>shot\ndead after stepping out of the kovil on 27 July 1975<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

LTTE\u2019s\nsecond victims were also Tamils \u2013 scores of Tamil policemen making Tamils too\nscared to join the police & the LTTE propagandists twisted this to claim\nthe government was not recruiting Tamils to the police!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M Canagaratnam<\/strong>Tamil\nUnited Liberation Front\u2019s candidate for Pottuvilshot outside his home\nin Kollupitiya, Colombo <\/a>on 24 January 1978 & died of his\ninjuries on 20 April 1980<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

C E Anandarajah<\/strong>\u2013\nPrincipal of St. Johns College Jaffna. Assassinated on 26 June 1985<\/strong>for organizing a cricket match with Sri\nLanka Army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Amirthalingam <\/strong>MP,\nSecretary General of the TULF\/ a Former Opposition Leader killed by LTTE\non 13 July 1989<\/strong>in\nhis own residence after his wife offered the assassins tea & biscuits. He\ncalled LTTE \u2018our boys\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    V Yogeswaran<\/strong>\u2013\nhusband of Sarojini Yogeswaran \u2013 Tamil lawyer & MP. Assassinated along with\nAmirthalingam on 13 July 1989<\/strong>.\nSivasithamparan escaped with injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Jeyaraj Fernandopulle<\/strong>\u2013\nMP. Killed on 6 April 2008<\/strong>along\nwith 14 othersby a LTTE suicide bomber while raising flag for a marathon race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Sivashri Kungaraja\nKurukkal <\/strong>was the head pandit of the Koneswaram\ntemple of Trincomalee,Shot dead on 21 September 2008<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Kumaraswamy Nanthakopan (Ragu)<\/strong>killed\nin Colombo on 14 February 2008<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The\nfamilies that participate at these LTTE Maaveerar Naal commemorations are ALL\nFAMILIES of LTTE & known as Maaveerar Kudumbangal (Great Hero Families) who\nhad a privileged life under LTTE reign. We witnessed this in the manner some\nTamils during the last phase were better fed than the rest of the Tamils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The\nMaaveerar Naal commemorations are naturally held overseas as well \u2013 it is\nanother income generator and a camouflage to fool the gullible international\ncommunity. The LTTE diaspora lighting candles and holding commemorations are\nall LTTE runaway families \u2013 probably missing & disappeared are amongst them\nwith new names & identities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    While\nthese commemorations are held with pomp & pageant \u2013 the families of those\nkilled by LTTE can only mourn their dead in private inside their homes. No\npublic ceremonies are allowed by LTTE for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How\ncan we forget the LTTE combatants killed by LTTE \u2013 children, women, men? How\nmany did LTTE kill? Are their deaths credited to the Sri Lanka Army? During the\nlast phase scores of injured LTTE combatants were put into buses and set fire.\nMany Tamils living overseas were killed for not towing LTTE line. Some continue\nto be threatened still.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    So who is Wigneswaran & TNA actually fooling by attending\nthese LTTE Heroes Day commemorations? Decorations are in LTTE colours (red\n& yellow), LTTE flag is hoisted, Eelam Map is displayed, garland for 1st<\/sup>LTTE\nhero Shankar is a dead giveaway (pun intended)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
