A. Chaminda I. Colonne\npresented Letters of Credence to the Executive Secretary Armida Salsiah\nAlisjahbana of UNESCAP on 26<sup>th<\/sup> November 2021\nat the UNESCAP\nSecretariat in Bangkok, following her virtual meeting on 20<sup>th <\/sup>April\n2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After congratulating Ambassador Chaminda\nColonne and warmly welcoming her to the UNESCAP Secretariat, Executive\nSecretary Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana assured fullest cooperation to the Sri\nLanka\u2019s Permanent Mission in Bangkok, the Government of Sri Lanka, and in\nrealizing 2030 Agenda on the Sustainable Development and related activities,\nprogrammes in Sri Lanka. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While conveying warm greetings from\nH.E. the President, Hon. Prime Minister and Hon. Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Ambassador\nChaminda Colonne conveyed Sri Lanka\u2019s continued fullest support and cooperation\nto UNESCAP in achieving common Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Executive Secretary Armida Salsiah\nAlisjahbana expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the\nGovernment of Sri Lanka for hosting the Fifth South Asia Forum on the\nSustainable Development Goals, in Sri Lanka from 15-16 November 2021. Recalling\nher recent virtual meetings with Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila &nbsp;and the Foreign Secretary Admiral Prof.\nJayanath Colombage,&nbsp; Executive Secretary\nArmida Salsiah Alisjahbana highlighted UNESCAP\u2019s interest in providing\ntechnical assistance to realize SDG 7, namely affordable and clean energy in\nline with the SDG Road Map. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both discussed on future cooperation in\nthe areas of data &amp; statistics, organic farming, Public Private Partnership\n(PPP) and financing for development as well as on the provision of technical\nand financial support in the renewable energy development in Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elaborating on the keen interest and\nefforts taken by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to move from chemical to organic\nfertilizer, Ambassador Chaminda Colonne requested UNESCAP\u2019s technical\nassistance, research and awareness programmes for shifting &nbsp;toward organic farming in Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secretary of the Commission Lorenzo\nSantucci, Director of Strategy and Programme Management Division and Officer in\nCharge, Subregional Office for South and South-West Asia, Adnan Aliani of\nUNESCAP and First Secretary and Deputy Permanent Representative Saritha\nRanatunga from Sri Lanka Mission in Bangkok joined the discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Embassy and the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the UNESCAP<\/strong> <strong>Bangkok, Thailand<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>26<sup>th<\/sup> November\n2021<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Embassy and the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the UNESCAP Bangkok, Thailand Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, C.
