{"id":120831,"date":"2021-12-03T16:45:26","date_gmt":"2021-12-03T23:45:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=120831"},"modified":"2021-12-03T16:45:26","modified_gmt":"2021-12-03T23:45:26","slug":"ceb-engineers-briefly-call-off-work-to-rule-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2021\/12\/03\/ceb-engineers-briefly-call-off-work-to-rule-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"CEB engineers briefly call off work-to-rule campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Courtesy Adaderana<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>The Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers\u2019 Union (CEBEU) has temporarily called off its work-to-rule campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CEBEU members launched a work-to-rule campaign on November 25 over several issues including the controversial Yugadanavi power plant deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association demanded that the government not proceed with the deal with US-based energy company New Fortress Energy Inc., which includes a transfer of 40% of shares of West Coast Power Private Limited (WCPL) &#8211; the owner of Yugadanavi power plant in Kerawalapitiya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also called on authorities to put an immediate stop to the abrupt transfers of senior management of the CEB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, on December 01, the members withdrew from power restoration activities with immediate effect.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CEBEU\u2019s decision to call off their work-to-rule campaign came after the major disruptions to electricity supply island-wide this morning.
