{"id":135747,"date":"2023-07-20T16:14:11","date_gmt":"2023-07-20T23:14:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=135747"},"modified":"2023-07-20T16:14:11","modified_gmt":"2023-07-20T23:14:11","slug":"india-says-sri-lanka-has-already-notified-that-inr-is-designated-foreign-currency-in-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2023\/07\/20\/india-says-sri-lanka-has-already-notified-that-inr-is-designated-foreign-currency-in-system\/","title":{"rendered":"India says Sri Lanka has already notified that INR is designated foreign currency in system"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Courtesy Adaderana<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>The Spokesman for India\u2019s Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi, has revealed India\u2019s willingness to further expand financial economic relations between Sri Lanka and India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on President Ranil Wickremesinghe\u2019s visit to India, Bagchi said We would like to steepen this financial economic connection, but I think it\u2019ll be premature for me to say when the visit is tomorrow\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bagchi made these remarks while commenting on trading in national currencies between India and Sri Lanka at a media briefing held on Thursday (20 July), and commended the fact that Sri Lanka has already notified the Indian Rupee as a designated foreign currency in its system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry Spokesman noted, however, that how India, as a nation, deals with the concerned matter in the future, and how they take it forward, depends on those involved in India\u2019s private and trade sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In terms of trading in national currencies, Sri Lanka has already notified Indian Rupee as a designated foreign currency in their system. How we take that forward depends on our private sector and people who engage in the trade sector.
