Dear Minister Herath:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sri Lanka Daily News<\/em><\/strong> reports that you briefed Diplomats of the Human Rights Situation in Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am stymied…I am foxed.   Why Oh why did you do it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did you think they\u00a0cared for two tumbling\u00a0pebbles in the waters of our great Mahaweli?\u00a0 \u00a0Did you think that they cared two hoots of a Sri Lankan owl before he shut his eyes when the Colombo’s\u00a0\u00a0sky turns dark for the night.\u00a0 \u00a0Did you really think that these foreign Diplomats, including UNHRC’s\u00a0Volker Turk, cared for two sheaves\u00a0of paddy on a waterlogged rice-paddy field at Udahamulla, waving in the\u00a0wind?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may be curious\u00a0about my thinking and ask me, “Asoka Weerasinghe, why are you questioning<\/em><\/strong> me as to why I did brief the Foreign Diplomats of our\u00a0 progress made by the Government in the<\/em><\/strong> area of Human Right?’\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Well Minister Herath, that is a fair question?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“But , let me answer\u00a0your question by questioning you …Do you honestly\u00a0believe\u00a0these Diplomats understand, especially at UNHRC what amazing ‘Classic’ acts of Human Rights that Sri Lanka has performed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world didn’t care\u00a0two hoots when Sri Lanka achieved the brilliant Classic War textbook\u00a0example when your military forces,\u00a0 single handed, annihilated the Tamil Tiger Terrorists (aka LTTE)\u00a0 on May 19, 2009, after \u00a0a 30-year ethnic war, and gave\u00a0 back to their 20.5 million people their\u00a0‘right-to-life’<\/em><\/strong>which had been hijacked\u00a0by the Tamil Tiger Terrorists for 30 bloody- years;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They didn’t think much when your armed forces rescued 295,873 Tamils from the clutches of the Tamils Tigers, during the closing months of that Eelam War, who used\u00a0them as a human shield, marching them for six-months \u00a0under a scorching Jaffna-Killinochchi sun like an unwashed herd of cattle, from the west coast\u00a0to the east coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only that Minister, they were housed in a White Tent City and sustained them by feeding a million meals\u00a0a day of healthy breakfasts\u00a0, lunches and dinners.\u00a0 That is why!\u00a0 Both those Human Rights Acts deserved Nobel Peace\u00a0Prize\u00a0nominations.\u00a0 But it did not happen.\u00a0 \u00a0That’s a pity!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These foreigners being bullies are out to get you and your government, because you are a puny island and doing amazing acts of human rights, as you are a caring people, And they have difficulty accepting it, for whatever reason.\u00a0 That’s why!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s get this right Minister Herath..\u00a0 \u00a0Human Rights should be a shield for peoples, and not a weapon against\u00a0governments to\u00a0weaken the State..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I say all this to you Minister Herath, a I claim my right\u00a0by fighting to hold the good name of my Mother Lanka, Sri Lanka,\u00a0 from the Canadian trenches\u00a0since August\u00a04, 1983, and have\u00a0written over 2000 letters to editors of Canadian\u00a0newspapers, Political Journals and\u00a0 Parliamentarians,and have over 500 letters\u00a0pick up ink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is why I feel stymied and foxed when we try to give into these cess-pools of Human Rights foreigners who think\u00a0they are lily-white and Holier than Thou.\u00a0 \u00a0As they would disproportionately target smaller\u00a0states\u00a0as yours, while ignoring powerful nations. The ICC\u00a0jurisdiction\u00a0would override\u00a0Sri Lanka’s\u00a0Constitution, domestic courts and national security decisions.\u00a0 That is why!\u00a0 \u00a0I hope you understand me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can’t be weak…we can’t show them that we are weak.  Let’s not forget, we are the land of the Lion that carries a sword.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That Is why!   <\/p>\n\n\n\n
