The international community in particular Nations across Africa, Latin America, Middle East, Europe and even Asia Pacific may not be aware that Sri Lanka listened to the international solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peace Talks & Negotiations \u2013 some even held in foreign shores<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cease Fires<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peace Accord with India in 1987<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sri Lanka even had the presence of foreign troops:<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indian Peace Keepers <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sri Lanka also had foreign monitoring missions:<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ALL THESE FAILED TO DELIVER PEACE<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ALL THESE FAILED TO PREVENT LTTE KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7      1. The initial peace talks were held in Thimpu in 1985 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7      2. Peace Talks with President Premadasa -1989 \u2013 failed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7      3. Peace Talks with President Chandrika \u2013 1994 \u2013 failed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7      4. Ceasefire \u2013 2001<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7      5. Ceasefire Agreement under foreign supervision \u2013 2002<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peace talks in Thailand \u2013 2002 – failed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peace talks in Geneva \u2013  2006 – failed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7      The Indian Peace Keepers were stationed from 1987 to 1990 \u2013 they are accused of raping some 3000 Sri Lankan women & indiscriminate killing as they didn\u2019t know the language nor could they identity Sri Lankans.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7      The Nordic Monitoring Mission came after the infamous 2002 cease fire agreement & was stationed in Sri Lanka from 2002 to 2008. The SLMM comprised nationals from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark & Iceland.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They recorded over 3800 violations by LTTE against 356 violations by Sri Lanka Armed Forces a strong argument to deny wild allegations against the Armed Forces.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was during this ceasefire that LTTE assassinated Sri Lanka\u2019s Foreign Minister Mr. Lakshman Kadiragamar inside his residence. He was a Tamil. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

LTTE used every peace talk to recoup, restrengthen itself & the devastation immediately after the talks failed was devastating for the victims. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The international community must understand that a sovereign state has every right to exercise its legal right to defend its territory & its people. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The human rights of terrorists cannot come before the human rights of innocent civilians. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UN Human Rights Council did nothing to stop LTTE killings. \u2013 did nothing to stop LTTE kidnapping Tamil children \u2013 did nothing to stop LTTE turning children into child soldiers \u2013 did nothing to stop LTTE torturing & killing their dissidents \u2013 did nothing to stop LTTE running their own courts, police, taxing system, banks, currency \u2013 no country can allow defacto rule within a sovereign state.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was not the UNHRC who saved 300,000 Tamils being held hostage by LTTE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That they braved LTTE fire to come to the Armed Forces proves they preferred to be with the Sri Lanka Armed Forces than the LTTE.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main allegation for war crimes & genocide\u201d is a 40,000 figure.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is just a figure \u2013 even after 16 years even the UNHRC has failed to produce names of the supposed to be dead, there are no mass graves and no skeletons. To cover this a propaganda is being made out of a grave site in 1990 which is nowhere near where the battles during the last phase took place.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are the truths that the UNHRC has to face first \u2013 instead of wasting UN funds to call for tribunals of a conflict that has finished 16 years ago. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


UNGA & UNSC must prevent UNHRC exceeding its original mandate 60\/251 as these precedents would have dangerous impact for other UN Member states too.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
