{"id":157123,"date":"2026-07-04T14:49:36","date_gmt":"2026-07-04T21:49:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=157123"},"modified":"2026-07-04T14:49:36","modified_gmt":"2026-07-04T21:49:36","slug":"tri-forces-extend-full-support-to-national-dengue-prevention-effort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2026\/07\/04\/tri-forces-extend-full-support-to-national-dengue-prevention-effort\/","title":{"rendered":"Tri-Forces Extend Full Support to National Dengue Prevention Effort"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><strong>Ministry of Defence \u00a0&#8211; Media Centre<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>In accordance with the special instructions of His Excellency the President and under the direct supervision of the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd),&nbsp; a special dengue prevention programme with particular focus on the high-risk areas of the Western Province commenced this morning (04 July).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The large-scale public health initiative is being implemented across institutions and surrounding localities throughout the Western Province as part of a coordinated national effort to curb the spread of dengue and safeguard public health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A considerable number of personnel from the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force have been deployed to support the programme in close coordination with health authorities, local government institutions and community-based organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the operation, Tri-Forces personnel are engaged in extensive cleaning campaigns, identifying and eliminating potential mosquito breeding sites, clearing blocked drainage systems and conducting community awareness programmes to educate residents in high-risk areas on effective dengue prevention measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with the directives of His Excellency the President, the Ministry of Defence, together with the Tri-Forces, continues to play a significant role in supporting the national mechanism aimed at controlling the spread of dengue and protecting public health through this community welfare initiative.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ministry of Defence \u00a0&#8211; Media Centre In accordance with the special instructions of His Excellency the President and under the direct supervision of the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd),&nbsp; a special dengue prevention programme with particular focus on the high-risk areas of the Western Province commenced this morning (04 July).
