Initially\u00a0CBK had claimed that she did not want her children to take to this dirty game.\u00a0Now that CBK\u00a0 is in control of the party\u00a0this is not surprising.\u00a0But if Mahinda Rajapakse had won, it would have been not\u00a0that easy for him\u00a0to get nominations from the SLFP. So no wonder CBK tried to topple Mahinda. Family bandyism is not unusual in Sri Lankan and\u00a0Indian politics. After SWRD, Sirimavo took over. This was followed by Chandrika and Anura.\u00a0DS Senanayake got his son to do politics and made him PM. Sir John was a different kettle of fish. Ranil is related to JRJ. Sajith took to politics after his father. There were allegations against MR about family bandyism. In provincial councils as well the pattern is the same.<\/p>\n<p>CBK left politics saying that she will never come back. And said that she will not even encourage her children to take to politics. But politicians know that there are plums in politics. After the faked documentary \u00b4\u00b4Killing Fields\u00b4\u00b4\u00a0 was shown by\u00a0 Channel 4, she\u00a0said that her children felt sorry for the LTTE and were in tear. In contrast ,\u00a0there were strong protests by the people and the govt against Channel 4.<\/p>\n<p>In India, the Gandhi family\u00a0is involved\u00a0in politics despite assassinations and disasters. Indhira Gandhi was killed by her Sikh bodyguards. Rajiv was killed by a LTTE suicide bomber. \u00a0In Sri Lanka as well things were not that different. CBK\u00b4s father and husband had been assassinated as well. She was nearly killed by a suicide bomber. We have to be thankful to MR, Gotabhaya Rajapakse and Sarath Fonseka for wiping out the terrorists.
