During first week\u00a0\u00a0of March 2014, whenMinister of Health\u00a0Maithripala Sirisena tabled the bill on the National Drug Policy in\u00a0Parliament in \u00a0he claimed\u00a0In 2012, the racketeering pharmaceuticals mafia was able to steal and destroy the drug policy bill. But I did not falter he said, as per the provisions in the bill a new institution will be established.\u201d<\/p>\n

Once the bill is tabled in parliament it should have been recorded in the parliament and it is obvious that Sirisena is uttering\u00a0another diabolical lie in the parliament now that copy of the bill is deliberately misplaced at Legal Draftsman\u2019s Department due to the intervention of some higher-ups of the then regime a powerful politician. Then he said he could not find his original copy.<\/p>\n

But according to the news report he has tabled the bill in parliament during the first week of March 2014 and there is no reason to believe that the bill is lost.<\/p>\n

The bill on the National Drug Policy was tabled in Parliament last week.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Speaking at a event Maithripala Sirisena said: In 2012, the racketeering pharmaceuticals mafia was able to steal and destroy the drug policy bill. But I did not falter. As per the provisions in the bill a new institution will be established.\u201d<\/p>\n

The National Drug Regulatory Authority will be established. This will also establish a new research facility and laboratory for testing drug standards. This will also deal with factors that have contributed to serious fraud and corruption in the health sector, through requiring the registration of pharmaceutical companies, standards during drug distribution and price controls,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
