Under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1373, Sri Lanka listed 16 entities and\u00a0424 individuals of the LTTE overseas network that engaged in terrorist propaganda, fund raising, procurement, shipping and other support activities. If they are delisted by the Maithripala Sirisena-Ranil Wickramasinghe government, the LTTE will revive\u00a0affecting Sri Lankan\u00a0National Security and on going Reconciliation. <\/u><\/strong>Since the listing on\u00a0April 1, 2014,\u00a0foreign governments have frozen LTTE assets and properties overseas. If delisted, LTTE network overseas will use the resources unfrozen to recommence activities for a separate state in Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n

Even after the military defeat of Tigers in Sri Lanka, the entities\u00a0and individuals overseas continued their hostile and vengeful acts against Sri Lanka. After the\u00a0comprehensive defeat of Tigers on May 19, 2009, the\u00a0Sri Lankan authorities engaged in resettlement of 300,000 Tamil IDPs exploited as a human shield by the Tigers. Furthermore, government rehabilitated and reintegrated 12,000 Tigers who surrendered. The terrorists released back to society with new livelihood skills, and with an infrastructure investment of USD three billion helped to establish peaceful environment in the country. Nonetheless, the LTTE activists and supporters living in foreign lands who supported and especially funded the terrorist violence in Sri Lanka\u00a0for over three decades remained a serious security risk as they still pursued the same goal of carving out a separate mono-ethnic Tamil racist state out of the sovereign territory that comprised the island of Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n

Sri Lanka issued\u00a0Gazette 1854\/41 under\u00a0UN Regulation No.1 of 2012 and the UN Security Council Resolution Number 1373 of September 28, 2001 listing\u00a0entities and individuals that supported terrorism. The Foreign Organizations proscribed with the gazette notification are noted below:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    If Sri Lanka delists LTTE entities and personalities, 32 foreign governments will be challenged by LTTE entities to de-proscribe the\u00a0international terrorist movement. Already, LTTE entities are planning to challenge USA, Canada, India, UK and EU that has blacklisted the LTTE.\u00a0 Care should be taken to ensure that Sri Lanka\u2019s security is not compromised through hasty decisions.<\/p>\n
