{"id":46585,"date":"2015-08-05T20:53:52","date_gmt":"2015-08-06T02:53:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=46585"},"modified":"2015-08-05T12:54:20","modified_gmt":"2015-08-05T19:54:20","slug":"malwatte-mahanayake-batting-for-anti-sri-lankan-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2015\/08\/05\/malwatte-mahanayake-batting-for-anti-sri-lankan-team\/","title":{"rendered":"MALWATTE MAHANAYAKE BATTING FOR ANTI-SRI LANKAN TEAM"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><strong>By M D P DISSANAYAKE<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Malwatte Mahanayake Ven Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero is a disgrace for the buddhists clergy in Sri Lanka.\u00a0 Most buddhists refrain from criticising buddhist monks due to respect for the religion.\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>But there is obviously a limit to which the buddhists in Sri Lanka can continue to tolerate the partial attitude of these monks, whether they are in Kandy or near Jubilee Post at Pitakotte, who are directly supporting the anti Sri Lankan elements in the political fray.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We still remember Talduwe Somarama Thero who assassinated the late Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mr S W R D Bandaranaike.\u00a0\u00a0 The Chief Prelate of Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara at\u00a0 that time Mapitigama Buddharakkita Thero was found guilty with Somarama and few other for the assassination of the Great Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n<p>Somarama and Buddharakkitha conspired and physically murdered the former Prime Minister.\u00a0\u00a0 But today there are Buddhist Monks who are determined to kill the political lives of President Mahinda Rajapakse and Mr Gotabhaya Rajapakse, the men who have championed the freedom for Sri Lankans by ending 30 years of cruel war.\u00a0\u00a0 During the period of War, these Maha Nayaka&#8217;s behaved very similar to United Nations and Western Imperialists.\u00a0\u00a0 Most of the Malwatte Maha Nayake&#8217;s have been conducting their affiars not for the sake of enhancing Buddhism, but to promote their glory, luxury and accumulation of wealth. Vast amounts of money collected at these temples are never distributed to poor people.\u00a0 Most Catholic Churches spend their funds amongst poor familes, to buy school books, shoes, uniforms and even provide break-fast every morning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In contrast to Malwatte and few isolated Buddhist Temples in Sri Lanka, the vast majority of Chief Incumbents and the Dayaka Sabhas have been the guinea pigs &#8221; to bring back Mahinda Rajapakse&#8221;.<\/strong>\u00a0 The President Rajapakse is contesting the election at the request of progressive Buddhist Clergy and the\u00a0 masses who have inundated his family home at Medamulana, pleading with him to save the country, religion and the nation as a whole<strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 To whom the Great Mahinda Rajapakse should listen?
