The Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe of Batalanda fame launched a bitter campaign in the Parliament<\/p>\n

against the journalists claiming that their hands are not clean. The main thrust of his speech was that the journalists are not doing anything about ‘racism’ and Eknaligoda. He mentioned the names of the leading Sinhala<\/p>\n

news papers and paused the question “what are you doing with racism”<\/p>\n

It is very clear what he meant by racism? He definitely didn’t mean the racist utterances of Northern Provincial<\/p>\n

council’s Vigenswaran or the TNA leaders’ claims to the North and the East or the rights of Tamils . He was referring<\/p>\n

to the concerns expressed in the media about the Sinhala Buddhists and the possible progressive erosion of their rights<\/p>\n

under the proposed new Constitution. As per the press freedom preserved under the Sri Lanka’s legal system is it<\/p>\n

an offense to express views and write about the Sinhala Buddhists while the other ethnic groups always engage on their group rights are getting ready to carve out areas from the country on the basis of their ethnicity?<\/p>\n

It was also revealed again that Ranil Wickarmasinghe is determined to ‘punish’ the dirty journalists who talk about things which are averse to himself. He mentioned Keerthi Warankulasuriya and said that he was writing about the fate of the war heroes. Can Ranil refute that our war heroes are going to be investigated by the foreign judges for liberating the country from the scourge of LTTE terrorism which terrorized every citizen in Sri Lanka including the Tamil and the Muslims? Is he not aware of the fact that it was the West which attempted to stop the war against the LTTE and it is the continuation of the very same ‘colonial’ campaign to claim that the victorious Sri Lankan defense forces caused war crimes but agree not to investigate the foreign and local LTTE activists who fueled the terrorist war breaching all national and international laws against terrorism. Why did Ranil Wickramsinghe dragged Keerthi W for writing about the war heroes when facts mentioned by KW are accurate?. Is it to gag KW or frighten this reporter by reminding him of the Brtalanda skeletons?<\/p>\n

He again said that Keerthi Warankaulsuriya is a frog in the well! What Ranil inferred was that KW does not know what is happening outside his small world. But, when one reads over some of the issues which KW brought to the notice of the<\/p>\n

discriminating readers of Sunday Divaina and Divaina one can guess why Ranil W was short fused as KW ‘s reports were about the dangerous slippery slope in which the country was moving ahead.<\/p>\n

Some of the important issues reported in KW’s defense columns deserves the attention of the readers for reexamination of his<\/p>\n

point of view. Keerthi Warankulasuriya wrote about the return of the Norwegians on 7th January to coach Sri Lanka about the reconciliation. and the new constitution while providing state aided protection to the LTTE war criminals, KW discussed the contents<\/p>\n

of the letter the British Foreign Secretary wrote on the British Elam Front’s demands to the Labor MP McDonald. In that letter the Foreign<\/p>\n

Secretary assures that the UK government will prevail on SL government to adhere to the UN Human Rights Commissioner’s resolution guide lines while getting the SL armed forces out of the Northern and the Eastern Provinces. The British Government will also participate in the reorganization of the SL defense forces! KW reported the plans of commemoration of the LTTE at Mulavaikkal and construction of a memorial to the LTTE. KW also brought to the notice of the readers the memorandum submitted to the Government by 12 NGOs and 41<\/p>\n

civil society members which included the demands to implement in full the Geneva recommendations . appointment of foreign judges regardS<\/p>\n

investigation of war crimes etc He revealed the modern day Judas as the Maj Gen who furnished a affidavit to the US saying that the war crimes were committed by the SL defense forces and when this retired Major General should have been charged for treason as well he was rewarded by Ranil ‘s Government by appointing him as the High Co missioner for Sri Lanka in Pakistan. KW revealed how the<\/p>\n

confidential police reports ended up in UN Human Rights Commissioner’s office which is a violation of oat of concerning the state secrets.<\/p>\n

In this context KW questioned in the possibility of leakage of confidential intelligence reports of the war against the LTTE. In fact, he reported<\/p>\n

that the UN Human Rights Commissioner had sought the confidential operations reports of the defense forces. He discussed the seminar held<\/p>\n

in the North sponsored by the Swiss Embassy of a Swiss university. He questions how the Swiss embassy was able to sponsor such a seminar to discuss the internal affairs of the country? He mentions the names of the Director of Swiss university Eva Maria and her colleague Morrisio who were working closely with notorious Bergheoff Corporation which once recommended to reduce the strength of the Sri Lanka defense forces.<\/p>\n

He also brought to the attention of the reading public the arrival of to Callum Macrea and Snowden, who were behind the Ch 4 fabricated TV production and their public activities in the North. It is evident that the selected reports of Keerthi Warankualsuirya represent responsible<\/p>\n

investigative reporting on matters crucial to the country’s sovereignty and security, The readers will vouch that the reports are definitely are not the product by a frog in the well, but the work of an investigative journalist.<\/p>\n

Ranil Wickramsinghe stoops so low by mentioning the names of other journalists too and calling Chatura at Derana a Riri Yaka.<\/p>\n

Ranil Wickramsinghe is supposed to be a senior member of the international Liberal organization and but his diatribe on SL journalism and the journalists is an attempt put fear into the messengers while exposing his Hitlerian agenda for Sri Lanka .<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
