I was intrigued to read the above news item in Today and wonder what is the definition of a Leader ?<\/p>\n

Oxford definition is !<\/p>\n

The person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country: or <\/em>\u00a0a \u00a0protest group- natural leader <\/em><\/p>\n

Among the past people who were playing the role of the Leaders in Sri Lanka were ,D S Senanayake, \u00a0Kotalawala ,S W R D Bandaranayake,Dudley Senanayake. Sirimavo Bandaranayke,W Dahanayake,J R Jayawardane , D B Wijethunge ,R Premadasa , Chandrika Kuamrathunge\/Bandaranayke \u00a0,Mahinda Rajapakse .and now we have Ranil Wickramasinghe and our incumbent president Maithreepla Sirisena .<\/em><\/p>\n

Premadasa was full of Prema\u201d ,Love and compassion and Pala\u201d means ruler though many argue about it ,despite my opinion is that he was a good leader in his own right <\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0Kotalawala and D B \u2018s surname does not elaborate any relevance to leadership \u00a0,and of course Wijyananda had a part of the name Nayaka\u201d though Wije\u201d means victory and Nayake means leader <\/em><\/p>\n

Part of names of each person has some relevance to the leadership like D S was a leader of a Senawa\u201d means Head of a \u00a0Batalian\u201d and the last name of \u00a0S W R D,Chandika ,Sirimavo had something to do with again the word Nayake means Leader \u00a0.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n

Mahinda was just a person obedient to the state : as per his name Raja-Pakse\u201d though we all consider him as a leader good or bad\u201d!<\/em><\/p>\n

Ranil is having a name with meaning Heroic Lion .which is quite close to a Leader where lion is a leader .<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0Maithreepala is the only leader who has his \u00a0name with word Mathree means kind and compassion which leads to conclusion \u00a0that he is ruling pala\u201d with kindness and compassion.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I suggest that by looking at the history we should consider voting people Like Anura Dissa\u201dnayake\u201d, may even be S B Dissa\u201dnayake\u201d , ( who had some dreams to become the PM sometime back\u201d ,Rajitha Sena\u201dRatna\u00a0 ( Who may have same dreams one day) ,of course not a Gamman\u201dPila as he is good in dividing or making Pila\u201d among the parties <\/em><\/p>\n

As per a utterance\u00a0 made by one minister having \u00a0name Rajapakse\u201d recently defined \u00a0a \u00a0person with title Field Marshal as a wel-vidane surely cannot be a leader <\/em><\/p>\n

Finally the name Piraharan comes to my mind but my knowledge in Tamil is nil hence I cannot say that his name has any relevance to the leadership ,though he was a evil Leader like Idi Amin and Hitler (<\/em>\u00a0\u0ba4\u0bb2\u0bc8\u0bb5\u0bb0\u0bcd<\/a> ) \u2013Thalivar\u201d should have been the first name relevant to the leader ???<\/p>\n

Whole country should now look for lawmakers \u00a0with names with \u00a0a part has \u00a0relevance to leadership Otherwise we will have leaders like Bush\u201d who has always beating the bush .<\/p>\n

So ,Professor Wijessoriya should clearly define how a leader should be though in my opinion Sri Lanka needs a \u00a0Benevolent Dictator\u201d like Lee Kwan Yue !<\/p>\n
