What happens in Sri Lankan political circles today resemble a South Indian low grade film. It was reported in 2015 how a former lady president barged into a hotel room of a politician while he was in bed with his paramour. Subsequently she was made the Managing Director of a state entity by this politician who is a minister. It is alleged that the same indulgent minister recently imported millions of rupees worth sexual stimulants for his five mistresses. Another very senior minister from the same district had to be hospitalized for overdosing on Viagra pills. His mistress dutifully stayed by his side. Two MPs, one from the ruling party, quipped in parliament about their sex romps with a former aged female MP. Yet another minister\u2019s son was blamed for abducting an under-aged woman for his sexual adventures while two government ministers had a scuffle at one of their homes over adultery involving the wife of one.<\/p>\n

However, all these pale into insignificance when faced with the latest sex scandal involving a higher ranked politician.<\/p>\n

Out of the blue, Colombo Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage was removed from his post and interdicted. He was named a suspect by the Attorney General over the alleged possession of an elephant without a valid license. However, the jumbo in question is possibly not an elephant but a very senior politician! A court case pending presided by him concerned an innocent male child who is dispossessed by the legal husband of his mother (Chamila). The Additional Magistrate was requested by him for a DNA test. However, it was not allowed to proceed by a higher authority. They prevented it for a very good reason.<\/p>\n

This is unacceptable interference with the judiciary and must be condemned by all. It must be remembered that former US president Bill Clinton didn\u2019t interfere with the judiciary when faced with a similar act.<\/p>\n

What is worse is the alleged sexual exploitation of a poor family by a very senior politician. This is what the husband of the mother of the child has to say about the incident.<\/p>\n

However, trapped into this needless battle is an innocent child whose welfare must be ensured.<\/p>\n

People must know the truth. They appreciate the fact that Mahinda had no such scandals no matter how hard his adversaries tried to frame him. The DNA test must be allowed to proceed and the court should be free to summon anyone including the president of the country for a DNA test. Otherwise it is a mockery of the justice system and the moral decay of Lankan government as never seen before.<\/p>\n
