{"id":55196,"date":"2016-05-31T15:21:18","date_gmt":"2016-05-31T22:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=55196"},"modified":"2016-05-31T15:21:18","modified_gmt":"2016-05-31T22:21:18","slug":"small-cars-three-wheelrs-land-cruiers-land-reovers-and-bullock-carts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2016\/05\/31\/small-cars-three-wheelrs-land-cruiers-land-reovers-and-bullock-carts\/","title":{"rendered":"SMALL CARS ,THREE WHEELRS ,LAND CRUIERS ,LAND REOVERS AND BULLOCK CARTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Dr Sarath Obeysekera<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I am writing this snippet in the car being driven \u00a0through 1.5 hours of traffic from Battaramulle to Muwal \u00a0to our yard<\/p>\n<p>Driver joins me cursing three wheeler drivers who have just occupied steering stick \u00a0who has no proper driving experience and respect to traffic laws and no knowledge of \u00a0using\u00a0 mirrors and signal lights in the Tuk Tuk .<\/p>\n<p>Wanted dco through Kelani Valley road but feared floods and garbage blocking roads<\/p>\n<p>I like minister John Amarathunge\u2019s statement and again Ravi Karunanayake\u2019s reasoning that the increase of taxes for bigger cars and three wheelers is justifiable .In Singapore Government discourages buying cars to reduce road congestion and imposes a congestion charge from cars entering the city \u00a0.But they have a highly developed public transportation system .People prefer to go by trains and buses and the roads and highways are developed .<\/p>\n<p>We need to develop the public transport system.
