It would be\u00a0 interesting to find out how many public protests have taken place since the inception of the Sirisena-Ranil regime and how many were suppressed using teargas or other means.\u00a0\u00a0 The regime used force to\u00a0 suppress a protest\u00a0 arranged by neglected \u00a0disabled soldiers, who sacrificed their limbs and \u00a0\u00a0many more for the sake of the country.\u00a0\u00a0 The President Sirisena told that he will investigate the matter, but only god knows what he found in his investigation. The most recent use of force for suppression\u00a0 is the protest held by the ex-local government members,\u00a0 against\u00a0 not holding local government elections.<\/p>\n

By looking back to the period of rule of JRJ ( Ranil’s uncle), there is a clear indication that the suppression will continue and probably will be increased to achieve the ultimate objectives of the\u00a0 formation of the Sirisena-Ranil regime. The way things are going-on, the main objective \u00a0of those who were instrumental in the formation of the regime , both\u00a0 in and outside of the country, is very clear.\u00a0\u00a0 It\u00a0 is none other than fulfilling the ultimate aspiration of the separatist elements, by facilitating the changes to the Constitution\u00a0 paving way to separatism.<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that Rajapaksa administration managed to defeat\u00a0 three decade long terrorism, its failure \u00a0\u00a0to recognise the enemies within, ultimately\u00a0 led to a political disaster. \u00a0It couldn’t\u00a0 sense the political coup of its own group members led by the general secretary of the main constituent party until the day after infamous ‘hoppers night’.\u00a0 \u00a0The current Joint Opposition (JO) parliamentarian \u00a0got into a another trap, once again, by contesting the general election under the UPFA lead by the very same personality\u00a0 involved in the’ hoppers story’, possibly due to wrong advisers within. \u00a0Thus JO had to bear\u00a0 the Opposition role, both in and outside the Parliament, while the current Opposition Leader is comfortably sitting\u00a0 and voting with the government enjoying all the privileges assigned to the position.<\/p>\n

How the removal and appointment of\u00a0\u00a0 Prime Ministers, Chief Justices etc \u00a0were made and how the Office on\u00a0Missing Persons<\/em>\u00a0(OMP)\u00a0Bill was \u00a0presented and debated in the Parliament are \u00a0indications of the level of craftiness \u00a0\u00a0of the invisible advisers of \u00a0the \u00a0current regime to defeat opponents and reach their objectives . JRJ managed to introduce the infamous 13th Amendment to the Constitution, despite the massive opposition, since he had the ‘undated resignation letters’ obtained from his government MPs. \u00a0The only dissident member of the government who had the backbone to resign from his ministerial portfolio as well as his seat in parliament was Mr.Gamini Jayasuriya.\u00a0 Following the footsteps of JRJ, the Sirisena-Ranil regime appears to be doing whatever its intends to do, disregarding the \u00a0public opposition, using the current two – third \u00a0majority in the parliament.<\/p>\n

The formation of a Constitution Assembly appears to\u00a0 be a\u00a0 Trojan Horse to legalise\u00a0 the Constitution Amendment\u00a0 without going through a referendum. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Paving\u00a0 way to separatism, once made through the Constitution, will be irreversible.\u00a0 Hence it is time for the JO to\u00a0 consider whether there is any purpose of remaining in the Constitution Assembly as members or to have a strategy to defeat separatist’s agenda without further delay.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
