Sri Lankan Cricket has reached its low ebb and in the process virtually destroyed some of the young talents.\u00a0 Angelow Mathews was never a visionary leader, he was fortunate to be the skipper with the right contacts, rather than right skills needed by a skipper.\u00a0 With the departure of Mahela, AM\u00a0 was appointed to the top role after\u00a0 2 years of grooming under Mahela.<\/p>\n

During past few years, we had injury prone skippers in Tests, ODI\u00a0\u00a0 and T20.\u00a0\u00a0 The three leaders of the longer and shorter formats of the game, viz. Angelow, Dinesh and Malinga\u00a0 were not fully fit most of the time.\u00a0\u00a0 There had been musical games on\u00a0 the field as a result.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 At the end, the Game of Cricket in Sri Lanka suffered after repeated setbacks.<\/p>\n

Now they are passing the blame on Sanath Jayasuriya and Angelow Mathews.\u00a0 In fairness AM had made inroads into the games upward curve, but was not consistent.\u00a0 He cannot clap with one hand.<\/p>\n

The management is now considering bringing back Mahela or Kumar to the top job of Chairman of Selectors.\u00a0 In our current situation, where local politics is taking centre stage, we have consistently failed to pool all resources under one umbrella.\u00a0 Muralitharan should be in a key role to develop our spinners.\u00a0 In any other country, Murali would have\u00a0 become the Coach.\u00a0 Why Mahela, Kumar, Sanath, Dilshan, Hashan, Chanminda Vass, are not mixed into a Unit of Command to direct the future of the game in Sri Lanka, leaving disgusting politicians such as Sumathipala, Dayasiri and Arjuna.<\/strong> Though Arjuna has a good cricketing brain, time after time, he has proved his inability to work as a team as he has a\u00a0 BIG HEAD AND BIG MOUTH.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On test ranking we are now just above West Indies and Zimbabwe.\u00a0\u00a0 I strong recommend to bring back Herath as Test Captain, whilst appointing Upul\u00a0 Tharanga for ODI\u00a0 and T20.<\/p>\n
