{"id":64931,"date":"2017-04-05T13:59:07","date_gmt":"2017-04-05T20:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=64931"},"modified":"2017-04-05T13:59:07","modified_gmt":"2017-04-05T20:59:07","slug":"bond-scams-legal-action-depends-on-probe-results-wijayadasa-tells-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2017\/04\/05\/bond-scams-legal-action-depends-on-probe-results-wijayadasa-tells-parliament\/","title":{"rendered":"Bond Scams: Legal action depends on probe results, Wijayadasa tells Parliament"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>By Saman Indrajith\u00a0Courtesy The Island<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It was on the basis of the findings of the CID\u2008and Presidential Commission of Inquiry investigations into the alleged bond scams that the government would have to decide whether to institute against Perpetual Treasuries, Justice Minister Wijayadasa Rajapakshe told Parliament yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Rajapakshe said so in response to a question raised by UPFA MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage, who demanded to know whether the minister was aware that the COPE (Committee on Public Enterprises) had revealed that there had been irregularities in the purchase of treasury bonds by the Perpetual Treasuries and whether the CID had carried out an investigation into the incident in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister said that the CID had informed the Attorney General\u2019s Department that it had not conducted an inquiry in 2015 into the issuance of treasury bonds in 2015.
