I also read Udyanga Weeratunge\u2019s article ( I am not \u00a0sure who wrote it !) ,he was very critical of Yahapalanaya for failing to keep the Russians happy and also that our diplomacy\u00a0 has failed .<\/p>\n

I recently attended a Seminar Organized by EDB about importance about branding where \u00a0a Dutch Expert claimed that the name and the logo in brand is quite important.<\/p>\n

In the case of our world number-one brand of\u00a0 TEA is facing a threat ,we need to revive the brand name .<\/p>\n

I have suggested that we should retain Ceylon name as it is and drop Sri Lanka name\u00a0\u00a0 in every brand including TEA\u00a0 ( In some TEA products it is still retained ) .<\/p>\n

When we were in Russia those days, we introduce ourselves as we are Ceylonese ( in Russian Ya is Tseilona ..\u00a0 means\u00a0 \u2026 I am from Ceylon \u2026\u042f \u0438\u0437 \u0426\u0435\u0439\u043b\u043e\u043d\u0430 )<\/p>\n

Next question they pose is Ah country where Madam Banadaranyake was the first prime minister of world ! or Ah You have excellent Tea\u2026\u2026..\u201d<\/p>\n

That was the brand of Sri Lanka at that time ..<\/p>\n

Americans of course, have no clue about geography and they frequently ask whether Sri Lanka is a Caribbean\u00a0 island .Americans hardly drink Teas hence they have no clue about Ceylon Tea !<\/em><\/p>\n

It is quite sad that we do not have Spin Doctors like in UK to advise government in foreign policy to analyze pros and cons of prohibiting Asbestos leading\u00a0 to such repercussions.<\/p>\n
