Even before the vote was taken, those who listened to Mr Wimal Weerawansa’s speech\u00a0\u00a0undoubtedly came to the conclusion that the Prime Minister will win the battle.\u00a0\u00a0Anura Kumara’s speech was totally confusing, whilst supporting the motion, as a face saving strategy, he was reading JVP’s own list of complaints against\u00a0Mr Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapakse, instead of Mr Ranil Wickremasinghe.\u00a0\u00a0Anura Kumara is a political discard.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The numbers game has been played very well jointly by the PM and Prez. Sirisena.\u00a0\u00a0The President Sirisena has\u00a0carefully evaluated a cross section of SLFP MPs, whom Joint Opposition may also\u00a0\u00a0be reluctant to take to their camp,<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0after they vote for the Motion. And they were:<\/p>\n

  3. Susil Premajayantha<\/li>\n
  4. Anura Priyadarshana Yapa<\/li>\n

  7. Dilan Perera<\/li>\n
  8. Susantha Punchi Nilame<\/li>\n
  9. Sudarshani Fernandopulle<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In other words, Prez. Maithreepala has\u00a0\u00a0virtually\u00a0\u00a0challenged the JO,\u00a0\u00a0” if you want, you can have my thrash folder of\u00a0\u00a09 MPs, with my compliments.\u00a0\u00a0Neither Prime Minister nor myself want them in the government”.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    John Seneviratne, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene, T B Ekanayake, Anuradha Jayaratne, Sumedha Jayasena, Wasantha Perera, Saranath Basnayake had always been unofficial birds of MR camp, but sitting on Maithreepala’s Pay Roll.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    If JO by any chance accommodate these discarded MPs, it will ruin its image in the short run.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0But in the long run, the damage to the JO will be far more serious, because none of the above can be trusted, they will build an underground bridge with the President, to ruin JO’s\u00a0\u00a0chances\u00a0\u00a0in future.<\/p>\n

    Quite frankly, who ever initiated the idea of No Confidence Motion, has been fooled by the President.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0The President might have used Mr Susil Premajantha\u00a0\u00a0to encourage JO to bring the motion well ahead.<\/p>\n

    After winning the local government election, the value of SLPP\u00a0\u00a0stock in trade was very high.\u00a0\u00a0In my personal opinion, a considerable damage had been done to the SLPP’s standing, as a consequence of failed No Confidence Motion.<\/p>\n

    Quite frankly, President Maithreepala has made the Joint Opposition\u00a0\u00a0a bunch of fools or political novices.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
