With this growth, Port of Colombo has leaped ahead many other Asian\u00a0Ports, Major European Ports and Dubai as well,\u201d the statement said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>According to Alphaliner Singapore ranked second in the highest container growth port,\u00a0Guangzhou third, Antwerp (Belgium) fourth and Port of Xiamen in China ranked fifth.<\/div>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Sri Lanka\u2019s Port of Colombo ranks world\u2019s leading container growth port\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newsin.asia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Colombo-port-container-terminals-are-the-most-efficient-in-South-Asia.jpg?fit=550%2C364&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"Sri Lanka\u2019s Port of Colombo ranks world\u2019s leading container growth port\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Port of Colombo consists of\u00a0the Jaya Container Terminal of the state-run Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), South Asia Gateway Terminal of the John Keells Holdings and Colombo International Container Terminal (CICT) of China\u2019s CM Ports.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Ports Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said recently that the three terminals had inked a deal to jointly promote the port and under this deal,\u00a0waiting time for all container vessels arriving at the Port of Colombo will be minimized by allowing vessels to be accommodated at the earliest available terminal.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In 2017, the Colombo Port moved up two places to become the 25th busiest container port.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Courtesy NewsIn.Asia Colombo, Sept 9 (newsin.asia) \u2013 Sri Lanka\u2019s Port of Colombo ranked the world\u2019s leading container growth port among the top 30 container\u00a0ports for the first half of 2018, according to international rating agency, Alphaliner, the Ports and Shipping Ministry said in a statement Sunday.
