Korean Air executive Heather Cho was served macadamia nuts on a first class flight from New York to Seoul Incheon. These were served to her in a plastic bag, rather than in a ramekin. Ms. Cho was working as Head of Inflight Service at the time.<\/p>\n<p>She ordered the plane be turned around as a result.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/onemileatatime.com\/why-is-korean-airs-nutgate-causing-so-much-controversy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">There was huge public outcry about the executive\u2019s actions<\/a>, especially in Korea, as it reflected much of the class divide that exists between the ruling families\u201d of the country, and everyone else.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Cho ended up being forced to resign shortly after.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-asia-32840725\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">She was also jailed in Korea for her actions, but then released<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-149427\" src=\"https:\/\/onemileatatime-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/SriLankan-A330-700x467.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onemileatatime-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/SriLankan-A330-700x467.jpg 700w, https:\/\/onemileatatime-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/SriLankan-A330-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/onemileatatime-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/SriLankan-A330-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/onemileatatime-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/SriLankan-A330.jpg 1200w\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>SriLankan Airlines<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-asia-45476036\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The BBC is reporting<\/a>\u00a0that the President of Sri Lanka (the country, not the airline),\u00a0Maithripala Sirisena has complained about the nuts served to him on a SriLankan flight from Kathmandu to Colombo last week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaking to a group of farmers in Southern Sri Lanka, he said of the flight:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When I returned from Nepal, they served some cashew nuts on the plane [that], let alone humans, even dogs can\u2019t eat, who approves these things?\u00a0Who approved the cashew?
