{"id":81913,"date":"2018-10-12T15:19:30","date_gmt":"2018-10-12T22:19:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=81913"},"modified":"2018-10-12T15:19:30","modified_gmt":"2018-10-12T22:19:30","slug":"prez-office-seeks-cid-probe-namal-kumara-in-fresh-controversy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2018\/10\/12\/prez-office-seeks-cid-probe-namal-kumara-in-fresh-controversy\/","title":{"rendered":"Prez Office seeks CID probe Namal Kumara in fresh controversy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Courtesy The Island<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Civil society activist Namal Kumara, who recently alleged a conspiracy against President Maithripala Sirisena and wartime Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is now under investigation by the Criminal Investigation (CID) following a complaint by the Presidential Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Samantha Kumara Kithalawaarachchi, Director, Presidential Task Force on Drug Prevention yesterday said that a complaint had been lodged with the CID seeking an inquiry to ascertain whether Namal Kumara, a resident of Warakapola engaged in any fraudulent activity on the pretext of being an employee of the Presidential Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.island.lk\/modules\/modPublication\/article_title_images\/1926519735namal.jpg\" alt=\"article_image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued yesterday, the official said that Namal Kumara hadn\u2019t been on the Presidential Task Force on Drug Prevention though he served as a volunteer in the Kegalle District in support of anti-drug project undertaken by the Task Force.
