Wait for the complete picture&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"gmail_default\">\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><i><b><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: large;\">Anjalika Silva<\/span><\/b><\/i><\/span><\/h2>\n<div><span style=\"color: #990000; font-family: 'times new roman', serif;\"><em>Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all &#8212; the apathy of human beings.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2015 <\/em><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/author\/show\/7275.Helen_Keller\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #990000; font-family: 'times new roman', serif;\"><em>Helen Keller<\/em><\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">There is a hasty attempt by many folks based on reading half the story and jumping to conclusions to paint a picture that is inaccurate.\u00a0 It is time to take a deep breath and give some credit to the intellect of leaders and the legal luminaries in Sri Lanka however much we may not like them based on partisanship. Their knowledge should not be tainted by the color of their politics.\u00a0 \u00a0The time has come to look at the\u00a0 bigger picture of the country we call our homeland.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"m_5678883856914734092gmail_signature\">\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lankaenews.com\/news\/2908\/en\">http:\/\/www.lankaenews.com\/news\/2908\/en<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">These folks are not stupid.\u00a0 They have a battery of legal experts who understand the constitution that was written and digested in Sri Lanka by fully informed individuals.\u00a0 The executive presidency has unrestrained powers.\u00a0 The union between two parties that formed a government was dissolved when one side pulled out.\u00a0 That is democracy when we can remove what we deem is not doing the country right.\u00a0 Didn&#8217;t that happen in 2015?\u00a0 Didn&#8217;t the biggest Bond scam to bankrupt the Central Bank happen in February-March 2015?<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Such a dissolution makes all the cabinet from the appointed PM downwards no longer valid as members of the cabinet that was no longer holding together.\u00a0 This is explicit in the constitution and removing the PM was not the primary action, pulling out from the joint party deal was the primary action that led to everything else becoming null and void.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">It is not the Parliament or cabinet that has powers to appoint or sack a Prime Minister.\u00a0 We had a Prime Minister who was appointed as opposed to being elected.\u00a0 The appointment was made with Presidential Powers and removal is also with Presidential Powers.\u00a0 So if the Attorney General and the legal heavy weights have taken the stand that action was within the framework of the law, why should any one half informed and barely conversant with the constitution stir things up?
