Vow another\nRs.3.5 billion of public funds down the drain for the benefit of politicians\nand rogues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t they have\nmore important issues to decide on at a critical time of the nation like this?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is it not a\nparallel to the appointment of Arjun Mahendran a non-citizen as Governor of the\nCentral Bank through whom the Ranil robbed the nation\u2019s premier Bank and\ndestroyed the nation\u2019s economy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To whom are\nthese tabs, when all schools are closed<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why tabs when\nmost of our schools don\u2019t have even a tap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is it the crying\nneed of our schools while there are other burning issues like lack of basic\nrequirements like buildings, teachers, books, desks, toilets, discipline and\neven proper curricula and teaching<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is it justified\nto have a fool like this who has no brain even to understand this much as the\nMinister of education in a country?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does he at least\nknow that none of these children who are given tablets have a vote? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shouldn\u2019t this\ntype of politicians be publicly hanged to save the count before they make it\nirreversible?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why didn\u2019t he\nreject this meekly as he did to the Cabinet paper submitted by Sagala\nRatnayaka. I don\u2019t think he has learned any lesson from the CB scam where he\nobjected first but gave in later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is this a\nCabinet in charge of good Governance of a country or a veritable CABI-NUT, a\ncabal of nuts, composed of a bunch of rogues and highway robbers that destroy\nthe motherland that has nursed them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my view all\nCabinet decisions in a country should be taken for the good of the country and\nthe people and not for the personal benefits and survival of politicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But today, in\nthis country, almost all Cabinet decisions are always driven by personal\nbenefits to politicians and their survival <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think the time has come now for the people to get\ndown to the streets demanding the immediate resignation of this Government<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Akila wins cabinet approval for Rs. 3.5 bn tab project<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n

Education\nMinister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam secured Cabinet approval for the free\ndistribution of 183,000 tabs among school children despite objection by\nPresident Maithripala Sirisena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project will\ncost Rs.3.5 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President,\nfrom the beginning, held the view that a pilot project should be implemented\nfirst on the distribution of electronic tablets. He had opined that a final\ndecision could be taken subject to the results of the pilot project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The matter came\nup for discussion at the Cabinet meeting yesterday. A committee, appointed to\nlook into the programme, also supported the free distribution tabs. Finally,\nthe President gave in, enabling the Minister to get approval to proceed with\nthe programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides,\nPresident Maithripala Sirisena had yet another spat with Prime Minister Ranil\nWickremesinghe by objecting a Cabinet proposal to increase some Port tariffs,\nthe Daily Mirror learns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of\nPorts and Shipping Sagala Ratnayake submitted a Cabinet paper seeking approval\nfor tariff hikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the\nPresident flatly rejected the proposal. It led to arguments between the\nPresident and the Prime Minister.(Kelum Bandara)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
