The other day I\nonce again got myself into one of those contemplative moods of mine, which is a\nfrequent occurrence. And since of late the frequency of it happening has seen\nsome increase owing in particular to I suppose the terrifying events that took\nplace on Easter Sunday and then what followed it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, this time\nmy mind suddenly veered off the track that usually runs through the familiar\nlandscape of politics, politicians, government and the governed and so on and\nso forth. And then I must have dozed off in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then came the\napparition. It materialized in front of me in an almost tangible form with a\nsuddenness that took me by surprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then its voice\nrang out, which is neither loud nor low or a whisper nor a yell, but a kind of\nan intonation; tell me my friend, is this not how your country is run? I\ncouldn\u2019t understand what he meant. So I just lay on my reclining chair\ntransfixed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here it went.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allegation is\noften confronted with a negation, which is followed by a counter-allegation.\nInstigation is often accompanied by investigation, which suddenly comes to a\npremature termination. Accusation is more often than not forgiven and forgotten\nand the accused granted emancipation. Inaction is portrayed somehow as a timely\nreaction. Coalition is sought after for the purpose of\nconsolidation.  Corruption has now turned into a tradition.\nPresumption frequently proceeds verification. Veneration is often directed to\nwhere it doesn\u2019t belong and so is vilification. You are happy basking in vacillation\nwithout resolution. Duplication is often presented as innovation. Demolition is\npreferred to conservation by many\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were many\nmore \u2018-tions\u2019. And on and on, it went.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It must have been\njust a 30-minute or so. And when I woke up from my slumber, it however felt\nlike much longer. Then I thought a bit more about the whole experience and to\nmy consternation, I came to realize that it was about the same anyway; the same\nold and hilarious \u2018Yahapalanaya\u2019 drama that I get to see during my usual wanderings\nthrough our political landscape. The only difference is that it was a much\nshorter rendition of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
