{"id":91266,"date":"2019-07-11T14:11:48","date_gmt":"2019-07-11T21:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=91266"},"modified":"2019-07-11T14:11:48","modified_gmt":"2019-07-11T21:11:48","slug":"ruling-and-opposition-members-should-be-transparent-and-truthful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2019\/07\/11\/ruling-and-opposition-members-should-be-transparent-and-truthful\/","title":{"rendered":"Ruling and Opposition members should be transparent and truthful"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Dr Sarath Obeysekera<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>We need to take a &nbsp;clue from Putin ,Theresa May,Trump\nand Modi .If they propose to change certain international agreements whether\npolitical or trade wise,they open the provisions to parliament,press and the\npublic .It is essential that elected leaders or parties should create a\ndialogue between public and government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the No Confidence Motion debate Speakers elaborated\nthe need to open up the main agreements and attachments to be signed with US .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hear about trade agreements with Singapore ,Japan India\n.We may &nbsp;soon sign free trade agreement with\nTajikistan.,Sichelles,Philippine etc wherever President and Prime Ministers .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rulers should publish cabinet papers and subject to a\ndiscussion with attachments before approving&nbsp;them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then public and opposition can object or propose amendments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obviously in Sri Lanka public and opposition tend to oppose\nto any progressive or non progressive proposals .Nevertheless government can\ntake serious comments on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Various TV stations and news papers are quite partisans\n,hence correct picture is never presented to public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am just watching one of the TV station where commentator\nmaking mocking statement and talks about the cartoons and critisizing the\n&nbsp;rulers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are we all comedians to listen to the commentators.?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why I suggested earlier ( which was never published)\nthat Sri Lanka should appoint a Comedian as the head of the government\n&nbsp;like in Ukraine&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Sarath Obeysekera<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Sarath Obeysekera We need to take a &nbsp;clue from Putin ,Theresa May,Trump and Modi .If they propose to change certain international agreements whether political or trade wise,they open the provisions to parliament,press and the public .It is essential that elected leaders or parties should create a dialogue between public and government.
