{"id":92642,"date":"2019-08-27T15:34:38","date_gmt":"2019-08-27T22:34:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=92642"},"modified":"2019-08-27T15:34:38","modified_gmt":"2019-08-27T22:34:38","slug":"probes-into-palai-jmo-leads-to-further-revelations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2019\/08\/27\/probes-into-palai-jmo-leads-to-further-revelations\/","title":{"rendered":"Probes into Palai JMO leads to further revelations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Courtesy Adaderana<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>A search operation conducted by the Terrorist Investigation Division in the locality of Karandiya in Palai of Jaffna has led to the discovery of a concealed stash of explosives, firearms as well as various other weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The operation was launched after information was obtained from the recently arrested Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) of the Palai Hospital, who is suspected of having terror links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/adaderanaenglish.s3.amazonaws.com\/1566933793-Probes-into-Palai-JMO-leads-to-further-revelations-L.jpg\" alt=\"Probes into Palai JMO leads to further revelations\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the 18th of August, the JMO of Palai Hospital, Sinnayya Sivaruban, was arrested by the Army and handed over to the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was then detained by the Jaffna terrorist investigation unit for questioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police media spokesperson said that during the interrogations, Sivaruban had revealed information on a concealed stash of weapons after which the search operation was launched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seize items included AK-47 firearm, two magazines, 11 hand grenades, 10kg of substance suspected to be explosives, 120 rounds of ammunition, a telephone and a multitude of other equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police media spokesperson said that a police team of the TID led by an ASP in the locality has been assigned to conduct further investigations on the incident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Courtesy Adaderana A search operation conducted by the Terrorist Investigation Division in the locality of Karandiya in Palai of Jaffna has led to the discovery of a concealed stash of explosives, firearms as well as various other weapons.
