The Myanmar leader \nis set to testify at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) at The Hague \nstarting Tuesday, where lawyers are pressing a case against Myanmar for alleged \ngenocide against its Muslim Rohingya minority. Gambia, a tiny, mainly Muslim \nWest African country, filed a lawsuit in November, accusing Myanmar of genocide, \nthe most serious international crime. During three days of hearings, it will ask \nthe 16-member panel of U.N. judges at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) \nto impose provisional measures\u201d to protect the Rohingya before the case can be \nheard in full. More than 730,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled Myanmar to \nneighboring Bangladesh after a 2017 military crackdown, which U.N. investigators \nfound in August to have been carried out with genocidal intent.\u201d Myanmar \nvehemently denies allegations of genocide. The office of Myanmar\u2019s civilian \nleader, Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has said she will lead \nher country\u2019s defense personally.
