His remains were cremated on December 17, 2019 \nat the Galkissa (Mt. Lavinia) Cemetery. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Waidyasekera \nwas a Past President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Taxation and \nEditor\/Consultant, Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka. He was also \nPresident of the Theosophical Society of Sri Lanka. He is a graduate in \nEconomics (Hons.) from the University of Peradeniya, and served as the Secretary \nof the 1990 Presidential Taxation Commission.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>He \nhas written extensively to books, journals and magazines published in Sri Lanka \nand abroad. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>He \nwill be especially remembered for his ground breaking research on the life and \nwork of Devendra Mulachari, one of the most brilliant designers and artificers \nproduced by the Kandyan Kingdom in Sri Lanka. &nbsp;It<\/em><\/strong> <strong>was later \npublished as a book \u2018The Great Royal Artificer of the Kandyan Kingdom\u2019 (Stamford \nLake: 2017).&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The  author D.D. He lived and worked under three Kandyan Kings. \n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Waidyasekera\u2019s \nresearch and writings on Devendra Mulachari influenced the oil colour painting \nof Ms. Avanti Sri Nissanka Karunaratne <\/em><\/strong><strong>depicting \nthe ceremonial opening of the Octagon or Pathirippuwa in the presence of King \nSri Wickrama Rajasinghe and the designer Devendra Mulachari, in 1802. She \npresented this painting to Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela on April, 25 \n2018.
