DINESH GUNAWARDANE AN EXCELLENT FOREIGN MINISTER"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><strong data-rich-text-format-boundary=\"true\">BY EDWARD THEOPHILUS<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>It\nis surprising to Sri Lankans living in the country and overseas that Mr. Dinesh\nGunawardena handled the withdrawal from the Co-Sponsorship of UNHCR\nresolution.&nbsp; It seemed that many\ncountries respected the views expressed by Minister Gunawardena who showed the\nnature of real Sri Lankan and educated personnel. There were different types of\nforeign ministers in Sri Lanka from Mr.J.R. Jayewardene to Mr. Gunawardena. I\nfeel that Mr. Gunawardena has excellent knowledge and stewardship skills to\nhandle the ministry and complicated affairs in modern international relations.\nMany cataplana supporters in the country and overseas thought that the\ngovernment has no people capable of handling foreign affairs with a good\ncommand in English and Mr. Gunawardena showed he is excellent in both languages\nSinhala and English, which is needed to give priority in education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\npromoting accountability and protecting human rights within the constitutional\nframework are the responsibility of any government elected to the office and\nthere is no evidence that any government elected after the independence breach\nthis responsibility.&nbsp; The UNHRC\nresolution was sponsored by the USA without proper investigation in Sri Lanka\nand it was bias towards certain groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\nheard Mr. Gunawardena studied foreign trade at the tertiary level and he showed\nthe nature of an educated practical person.&nbsp;\nI saw many Sri Lanka\u2019s born people saying they don\u2019t know Sinhala but\nthe truth is they neither know Sinhala nor English.&nbsp; Mr. Gunawardena is the best model to those\npeople. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr.\nGunawardena demonstrated stewardship handling the Swiss Embassy case too.&nbsp; He is a good strength to Mr. Gotabaya\nRajapaksa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\nis no doubt that Mr. Gunawardena was supported by Dr. Ravinath Ariyasinghe and\nhis team. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BY EDWARD THEOPHILUS It is surprising to Sri Lankans living in the country and overseas that Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena handled the withdrawal from the Co-Sponsorship of UNHCR resolution.&nbsp; It seemed that many countries respected the views expressed by Minister Gunawardena who showed the nature of real Sri Lankan and educated personnel.
