O' COMFORTER TO THEE WE CRY, DAWN OUR MOTHER LAND INTO LIGHT

By Christine Welangoda- Australia

Our golden dreams for tomorrow
Dawn and die in our land of sorrow
The world will know for eternity
That, Lanka stood for peace and harmony
We cradle our Motherland in our hearts with strength
To walk through thunder and pelting rain
Hell's gloomy gates hold up their key
Doors of freedom thrown wide we see

We hold our Mother land forever in our palms
As the heavenly gift of God most high
Grant us to live with no fear to flee
Let battle be o'er hell's armies flee
The storms that blow across our dear land
Then will be lost in the sea
Let our land emerge with strength and might
With Gods power to hold our rights

O comforter to thee we cry
Dawn our Mother land into light
Free us from the clutches of evil 'sun god'
And lock him out of sight
Our heroes who laid down their lives
Let paradise doors be open to thee we cry
With silver tears rolling by
A rose of red we lay in deep sorrow
To thank you for a better tomorrow

Is Peace in our Mother land going to be a reality or a myth. Why are the Christian Bishops of the north and East of SriLanka and also in a democracy like Australia blind to these mass murders. We Catholics are confused to see how the church is holding a torch to a bunch of world renowned terrorist in Sri Lanka. Specially at a time when innocent blood is shed without an end. Bishops in the North and East of Sri Lanka defend the LTTE without a valid reason, may be they think, they are all Tamils lost without a 'Wonderland'. But when we hear these words screamed out in a song we wonder, why only terrorist and not the innocent.................? , .

"The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams.
Upon the instrument of death
The sunlight brightly gleams.
When ev'ry man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams
Will no one lay a Laurel wreath
As silence drowns the screams."
