Child
Soldier
Daya Nikahetiya
Dear brother, oh
my little friend, we miss you
We could never bring you back to our family, we lost you
No more you are belong to us; the roots are cut and divided
They separated you for ever; from our tiny family tree.
I could still remember, that night
the darkest day in my life
They surrounded us and entered our house like vampires, one by one
"Can you remember you cried; none stop cried and struggled?"
Until they tied you, threatened to silence and took you out of the house
I still see your shadow all over, feel as you are around
Smell you and hear the lullaby
mum sang to you at that nice time
However it's only an empty dream;
Never could we get back to those good old days
Our paper boats were shaken and destroyed; sunk into the deep sand.
They left me aside as I'm disabled, so no use to them at all
But told mum, be proud to sacrifice to the cause one of her child
And will be returned once their mission has accomplished and done
So she had waited, and waited
but that day never arrived
They broke her cradle and robbed her only pearl
Took you into the dark jungle and hid some where in a cave
And made a Bionic Killer out of her innocent child
To send into a senseless war
for never ending battle.
The time passed and many things have changed
Still I am alive but none of my beloved is around
Mum lost her every hope and abandoned her suffering world
Sorrow and pain turned to cancer and took over her soul
Oh
dear...My baby brother, you little Child-Soldier
You know how much I care you and love
Please do not forget me, just visit me only once
To say good bye and depart, before one of us die!
