LTTE STAGE MANAGED THE KILLINGS OF TAMIL NADU FISHERMEN AND LTTE AGENTS BELIEVED BLAMING SRILANKABy Walter JayawardhanaIt is widely believed in the Defense circles both in India and Sri Lanka that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has stage managed the killing of the Tamil fishermen in the narrow straits between India and Sri Lanka in the eve of the Sri Lanka Presidents trip to New Delhi to strain friendly relations between the two countries. Sri Lankas Foreign Secretary Dr. Palitha Kohona said that Sri
Lanka Navy data indicated that the Sri Lanka Navy was nowhere near
the area where they are alleged to have attacked the Indian fishermen
and it was very clear that at no stage did Sri Lanka navy vessels
go into Indian waters. Indian websites like Rediff/India Abroad , notorious for their unprofessional reporting continue to publish unsubstantiated news reports that say Sri Lankan Navy personnel opened fire at the fishermen and killed them. Rediff/India Abroad, who are notorious for unprofessional and unsubstantiated
reporting even in the past said five Indian fishermen are feared by
this alleged Sri Lankan killing. They did not say at least what motivated
Sri Lanka and what interest that would serve to kill five Indian citizens
in cold blood without any provocation in Indian waters in the eve
of the Sri Lankan Presidents trip to India. The Rediff/ India Abroad website reported, Three Indian fishermen
were killed and two others with bullet wounds were feared drowned
when they were in the high seas on Thursday. According to the report , While two fishermen, Mariajohn (50)
and Lenus (52) were killed on the spot, Jesudoss (31), who sustained
serious injuries died at the Hospital on Friday morning. The injured, Jerry and Easter Boy were admitted to the hospital.Dr.
Palitha Kohona said in New Delhi, It is very clear that
the LTTE has stage managed the incident which killed four Indian fishermen.
It is a familiar pattern on the eve of the SAARC summit in New Delhi.
It is a deliberate attempt to discredit Sri Lanka. |
