Battles in North intensify; Terrorists continue to take heavy beating

Latest reports from Northern battlefield indicate that the center of battlefront has shifted from Mannar front to Vavuniya front on the Wanni Forward Defence line by this evening (December 1). According to the available information, security forces have been fighting an intense battle with LTTE terrorists in the Periyathampanai since this afternoon. The Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said that at least three terrorists have been killed so far in this battle. In addition, one soldier has suffered injuries and admitted to Vavuniya hospital.

Meanwhile in the Mannar confrontations, terrorists' death toll has risen to 13, the MCNS said. Also, the number of soldiers injured in the confrontation has risen to 14. Earlier, it was reported that nine terrorists were killed and 47 injured in clashes erupted in the South of Adampan area this morning (December 1). Three soldiers have also died in this battle.
