LTTE Desperation and the ?Mourning Leader? of the UNP

Dilrook Kannangara

Desperation is the word of the day for all LTTE sympathisers. They are working overtime to avoid the unavoidable – the end to the terror campaign by the LTTE. However, every day that passes without starting the grand military offensive in the North is doing us damage; this allows the desperate to mobilise enough nonsense, cadres and weapons to resist the forces and the political will of the leaders. Astronomical petroleum price in the world market has rendered it a daunting task for the government to keep public support and launch a large-scale operation at the same time.

Tigers habitually live in the ‘jungle’
Those fools who belittled the liberation of the East have gone dead silent; everyday more and more magnificent weapons are being recovered from the East. Among them were a strange looking MBRL, SA-14 set, thermobaric weapons and many large mortars. Even the national army do not possess these! Free roaming tigers have been chased out of the jungle and is now cordoned-off. They are utterly desperate as they go out all out in a recruitment drive that will turn their own people against them. LTTE never had to lose face among the Wanni residents in forcing them to join their ranks. Cheap cadres were sourced from the East and were trained there so that the Wanni dwellers were unharmed and not forced. Things have changed dramatically. One key outcome of the forced recruitment campaign will be civilian support for the army to penetrate into LTTE areas and unleash hell on them. No guerrilla group can handle this type of attacks.

Ponniah, Ponnambalam and Pakasoththi go begging for blood and bodies
‘Please, please save the terrorists, without them who will bomb, who will kill’ seems to be all what they are saying. While S Ponniah Thamilselvam has pleaded for 2 pints of blood from every family in Wanni, the other two are seeking it from the rest of the country. They want the bloodbath to continue because when it stops, they become nobodies. They have jumped on the bandwagon of the ‘mourning leader’ and his miserable Congress. They have pinned all their hopes on the Congress and its ‘mourning leader’ – the Batalanda killer. What a good find? However, their noisy Black July celebrations cannot achieve anything significant other than a crowd of spectators to hoot at their fancy-dress-parade! Ranil’s Black July attraction gruesomely affirms the old English saying that the murderer craves with morbid curiosity to visit the scene of his crime. They picked the perfect day for their inauguration.

It is idiotic to expect the Congress born on the Black July Day will protect the country as the war that was also born on that day 23 years ago has devastated the country.

However, they are in a mighty hurry to grab power before the government launches the final push into the tiger territory. It is the government’s responsibility to take all legal means to defeat their criminal aspirations for the sake of the country. Elections are due once in every six years and undue elections can only ruin the already fragile economy battered by a faltering tourism industry and rapid increases in the cost of living.

Deafening silence of the IC after the Thoppigala Victory
The silence says it all! All human rights activists, abduction specialists, peace humbugs and alternative policy experts have also gone bankrupt after the Thoppigala victory! It is now apparent that they were hell bent on stopping the military offensive than genuinely concerned with human rights, etc. It is like those vultures who fed on the body of Hon. Raviraj for political gain and then dumped it when it was clear that it was LTTE’s prey!

However, these crooks will stage a violent comeback when things hot up in the Northern theatre.

Right to Protect the terrorists from extinction
A few decades ago both superpowers (US & Russia) and their poodles had terrorist outfits of their own. While the Russos helped Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. Uncle Sam helped Al Qaeda. Now the Al Qaeda has crossed over and the West is in a dire search for a terror group to do their dirty work, as the Cold War is very much alive again. Only a few can qualify as Islamic groups and drug lords aren’t welcome. LTTE is the strongest candidate with USD300 million annual net profits, technological innovation, large non-Islamic support base in the west, proximity to the world’s largest (first and third in time to come) economies, proximity to the largest shipping lanes (apart from the North Atlantic lane which is anyway under the masters) and apparent weakness of the terror group’s enemy. Anti-Islamic tendency and pro-Christian affiliations are very much desired qualities of their new ‘Mujahidin’.
The moment a deal is struck with them, they will sever all links to Islamic terror groups that threaten the West and the ban can be lifted then as the LTTE would no longer be a threat to the West.
This is the real reason behind the IC’s pain to save the terrorists.

To overcome these interferers, the final war must be launched soon and should be won quickly leaving no room for survival for the LTTE. Regional power balance will look after the rest as no western power can interfere in Sri Lanka if the Sri Lankan government appeals to China and/or India to stop such involvement. But the best way is to eliminate the LTTE as there won’t be anything to intervene!!

Thirty thirsty years may end on the thirtieth
Ranil has resorted back to astrology/numerology in claiming that once in every 30 years the UNP sweeps into power from 1947 and it is a double thirty this year as he completes thirty thirsty years in politics. I have pointed out that according to astrology, Ranil passes through the Saturn Major Period (2003-2020) which is extremely bad in any count. It can also bring bad luck for the country if he leads it. However, his major fear is not stemming from astral beings but from the verdict on the illegal CFA due on the thirtieth of November. This will send out a strong message to anyone dreaming of an easy ride to power with the help of the terrorists.

The need to finish the extermination of the LTTE soon
As many have pointed out repeatedly, the more we delay the North bound operation, the more will be the casualties. Already the LTTE has completed another round of ethnic cleansing in Vavuniya, which will be a huge political and military gain for them. Scores of home guards and soldiers have died doing routine tasks not combat operations. How many more should die in vain before the military operation could begin? With galloping petroleum prices, public trust in the government is fast waning and there cannot be a successful onslaught without the public support. If we go on like this, the cost of living will exceed the cost of dying!

LTTE sympathisers have given up human rights, IDPs, refugees, development, etc. and are now concentrating fully on how to save the LTTE. Each day that passes by strengthens their cause. Apart from a member from every family in Wanni they have to give 2 pints of blood and what will follow if this period of inaction continue? The 2007 tourist season starts in three months and it is likely to be a dull season and how many more dull seasons should the economy endure before things get better? The IC is in a search for the replacement of their cat’s paw and LTTE stands a good chance of being selected if we delay in exterminating them. Do the government politicians understand the gravity of the situation?

The government could mobilise tens of thousands of security personnel, schoolchildren, people, many jets, tanks, etc. at a very short notice in the City for celebrations. It is absurd that they cannot mobilise the readily prepared armed forces in the North for an operation soon.

We urge the government to start the grand operation in the North before things get out of hand. The auspicious time is now.
