LTTE's Terrorist Leader SP Thamilselvam Killed In Air Strike Together With Five Other LTTE 'Big Wigs'!

It is said that retribution follows those who commit wrongs and for the many wrong committed against the Nation of Sri Lanka in the guise of an LTTE terrorist, the chief spokesperson, idealogue, presenter of innuendo and fabrications to the world about the terrorist organization he was a part of, SP Thamilselvam has paid the ultimate price. He has been reported killed in a well co-ordinated Sri Lankan airstrike which targeted a meeting of top rebel leaders early Friday. killing the head of the Tamil Tigers' political wing and five others in an attack seen as a huge victory for the Government in its long fight with the terrorists. The secretiveness of the LTTE has failed to reveal the names of five other leaders who were also killed in the attack and there is much speculation that there could be others of equal or greater importance to the LTTE who may have perished in the attack.

The demise of S.P. Tamilselvan which might be the heralding of the demise of the entire LTTE terror group seems to be the beginning of a sequence of events which the Sri Lankan Defence Establishment has been predicting for sometime now.It might also set off retaliatory attacks by the LTTE as token and inneffective as they might be, for which the Armed Forces should nevertheless be vigilant and well prepared to counter and there can be no lapses or relaxation of necessary preparedness purported to have led to the recent attack on the Air Force Base at Saliyapura where the Forces were literally caught unawares and also had the naivette to admit they were distracted by some cockamanie musical show as a lame excuse and cannot be repeated ever again if objectives to defeat the terrorists are to be effectively accomplished! While there are speculations that there may have been inside help to the attackers there may also be a need to discipline the persons responsible for the lapses as well as seeking out the moles within the camp! There should be a concerted effort towards eliminating any LTTE efforts towards disrupting the smooth functioning of the Armed Forces in their march to stamp out terrorism where SP Thamilselvam was indeed part of the mechanism they had to deal with for which objective the Armed Forces need to be highly commended on their success!

While it has been assumed by many that the fallen individual was the terrorist group's second in command, regardless of who he was it is indeed some compensation for the Government and a big loss of morale for the LTTE a mere matter of weeks after the terrorists attempted to shake the Government's resolve with a surprise attack on the air base in the North Central Province at Saliyapura. This is mainly due to the fact that SP Thamilselvam was one whose tactics bolstered the program of the LTTE and their attempts at secession with his posturing which he seemed to have picked up after the demise of his predecessor Anton Balasingham both of whom had irked the wrath of many within the Sinhala Nation as well as many more discerning Sri Lankans around the world with garrulous rhetoric often bordering on lies an innuendo culminating with latent threats.

There is further speculation that amongst the five other leaders of the terror group reported killed there may also be the name of Rasaiyah Illanthirayan a close consort of Thamilselvam albeit unconfirmed, another ne'er do well whose habit it has been to falsely spice up and concoct reports of LTTE capabilities often laced with threats and bold rhetoric directed at the Sri Lankan Authorities and all in all a fair measure of success for the Government of Sri Lanka and the Armed Forces who must now surely set their sights rowards eliminating the LTTE head honcho, Sri Lanka's Most Wanted Criminal - Velupillai Prabhakaran if he has not been part of the five leaders who perished in the Armed Forces Campaign! The degree of reluctance by terrorist sources to reveal the names of the other five LTTE leaders who were killed leaves room for the speculations regardless of which the drive to eliminate terrorism by the Armed Forces should now gather greater momentum.

Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in an immediate response to the international media has confirmed the information about the Air Strike as being is very accurate and that the location and movements of the LTTE are well known to the Sri Lankan authorities and that it is a message relative to direction and effectiveness with which it has been carried out which augurs well for the Government and perhaps a harbinger of doom for the terrorists which was long overdue from a standpoint of National Security and the capabilities of the Armed Forces and the shape of things to come!
