Pick Them One by One, Allow No Oxygen for the Terrorists

Dilrook Kannangara

So the tigers tried to take the upper hand by attacking the SLAF Anuradhapura base. Many defence analysts said that the government would find it difficult to overcome the loss and the tigers have retaken the upper hand in the war. Surrender punks and other psychopaths were beating up their drums in favour of Tamil Elam again. The bunker buster missile blasted in their mouths!

However the LTTE would surely continue with their tit-for-tat attacks very soon. These should also be retaliated with even heavier bombardment of tiger bases and its leaders’ hideouts. The price catch of Parabakaran still seems to evade his long due fate. Any unwarranted action by the LTTE should therefore be countered with intense bombardment on the heads of its remaining leaders.

On the other hand the government troops should take a more proactive stance on offensive operations. It is futile to wait till the tigers attack to hit back. Severe pre-emptive strikes must be carried out to neutralize tiger power continuously. Any let up means loosing the tiger tail.

Eternal vigilance must be the key word until the remaining LTTE residue is cleansed which must be done fast. As the Defence Secretary has quite correctly pointed out, the remainder must be picked off one by one; and that got to be done sooner than later. Each day that passes allowing Parabakaran to live, the higher become the chances of another terror attack.

Every measure, legal or otherwise must be taken to defend the military assets in Katunayake, Trinco and elsewhere. The SLAF has proven once again that they are the rulers of the Lankan skies.

The ostrich attitude shown by pro-LTTE media must be condemned. The government forces, unlike the LTTE, have a legitimate right to have the military monopoly in Sri Lanka and there is nothing anybody can do to stop that. The ostrich strategy is a sure failure as the timid bird surrenders to a cobra by burying its head in sand. On the contrary, the eagle attacks the cobra repeatedly till the reptile becomes the mighty eagle’s supper. Let us remain eagles and never for a second become ostriches. The slogan must be ‘Pick Them One-by-one, Allow No Oxygen for the terrorists. They lived for 35 long years and now it is the civilized citizens’ turn to live and for them to live the LTTE must die; there cannot be any compromise with the terrorists. Dear gallant soldiers put them out of business for good, soon! We have waited for 35 long years and can wait no more.
