Sri Lanka Accuses 'Amnesty International' Of Trying To Tarnish Her Image During The World Cup

Letter to Amnesty from SPUR:

To Amnesty International

Dear Sirs

We send herewith a letter sent to AA-Australia and REQUEST you to stop dragging sports to marginalise Sri Lanka.

As you are aware, many far thinking people have persuaded countries not to cut-off sports ties with Zimbabwe in spite others who wanted to do so.

Sports should not be mixed with politics. Sri Lanakn cricket team is a well knit unit and is presently skillfully playing out there with the world's best.

It is an unethical act for the AA to try to mar the occasion. If you continue with this gutter tactics, I can assure you that this will boomarang on AA in Sri Lanka where the masses are cricket mad.

Finally, I would like to know whether you will ever mount a campaign such as this in USA during the Basket Ball or Baseball prime games about killings in Iraq?

Will you organize such campaigns to coincide with primier Soccer games in the EU about killings in Afaganistan or Iraq?

Please do not mount programs only to embarass a developing country like Sri Lanka. Trust you will re-think abou the proposed program
