TISSA ATTANAYAKA SAYS JHU LEADER’S TAX FREE MERCEDES BENZ WAS USED BY HIS LEADER AND OWNER IS KIDNAPPPED

by Walter Jayawardhana

The United National Party Secretary General Tissa Attanayaka alleged that the Mercedes Benz imported tax free for Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) leader Venerable Ellawela Dhammanada and transferred to another person was used by Ranil Wickremesinghe for some time.

Attanayaka said his “Nayaka Thuma” (respected leader) has only borrowed the car from the person to whom it had been transferred and did not go into details whether there had been any financial transaction between them.

He also charged that the permit holder to whom the car was transferred has been now kidnapped by the Security officers of a cabinet minister to conceal the scandal.

Ellawela Dhammanada Thero never denied that the car was imported tax free for him but said that he was using an old passenger van for his transport purposes. Ellawela Dhammanada travels to far distances for his professional archeological research in the island.

The United National Party leader charged that to travel “the noble eight fold path Venerable Ellawela Dhammanada Thero wants a Mecedes Benz”

He alleged them “Dussila Samagama” (translated by a scholar monk in the US as “company of corrupt conduct, for us)

This aroused the wrath of many monks as an insult to all monks and Venerable Malwatte Mahanayaka Thero expressed his displeasure.

Tissa Attanayaka has said a Minister using his security officer has kidnapped the person who is alleged to be the transferee of the permit to hold the tax free car meant for the parliamentarian.
Apparently UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe did not think there was any ethical problem for him to use such a car.

UNP sources said Tissa Attanayaka was alleging the Security officer of the Minister of Environment for kidnapping of the transferee. Environment Minister Patalee Champika Ranawaka had been earlier also received such allegations during an inter-party crisis of his party.
