The police detectives arrested the two while they were meeting in a restaurant in Wellawatta, in Colombo South, the Ministry of Defense announced.

The Defense Ministry statement said, “The two suspects both ethnic Sinhalese were said to be on the payrolls of the LTTE for assisting the outfit for carrying out bloodshed in the South.”
The statement did not say what particular bloodshed being planned they were connected to.
The source said the Defense Ministry employee was attached to the Ministry as an enforcement officer but did not elaborate.

The other person arrested was a Director of a non governmental organization called Creative Media Center of Social Development and Human and Nation Foundation.

The Police Enforcement officer has been still working in his probationary period and had been recruited under a graduate recruitment program to the government , the Ministry of Defense said.
The police said he had been planted by the Tamil Tigers, allegedly paying him a large sum of money .
