Three cheers for the gallant Air Force of Sri Lanka and the Armed Forcers for eliminating one of the main roots of Terrorism.

Ratnajeewa Halpita

Thamilchelvam is no more and the LTTE has no resistance that it boasted and is made to run for dear life. The terror outfit which was blown out of proportion by the dollar hungry media is at its weakest ever since it’s inception and the SL armed forces are about to deliver the death punch. This should relieve Sri Lanka of its biggest parasite the LTTE and all peace loving Tamils Muslims and Sinhalees would be jubilant. Political harmony and civil life could return to Nothern Sri Lanka soon. The TIME magazine once had the following about Thamilchelvam –“The world is deceived by his broad smile and it hides the ruthless terrorist behind it” People of Sri Lanka never celebrate the “Death” of a human and they have sympathy on S P Thamilchelvan but they celebrate the death of a terrorist who was behind many of the atrocities done by the LTTE.

It is a sad situation to note that most media groups are trying to make a big hue and cry of the elimination of Terrorist Thamilchelvam. Some are worrying that Sri Lanka will have no one to have peace talks with and it will be the end of negotiations. (Please note that it was the LTTE who unilaterally withdrew from the peace talks on the latest negotiations and sabotaged all efforts to revive the matter giving petty reasons-the need for fixed wing aircraft instead of helicopters to travel!!, needing a minister in the negotiations!!) Did these shameless media personnel say the same when President Premadasa (Who even supplied arms to the LTTE) was assassinated by the LTTE, or when Gamini Dissanayake and Athulathmudali were murdered. Did they ever blame the LTTE when they were murdering the unarmed duly elected politicians or when an attempt was made on the late president Kumarathunga’s life? They were the fore runners and had an active role in peace negotiations of the Sri Lankan Government. Did these people say that the chances of a negotiated settlement was lost when Lakshman Kadiragarmer was murdered by the LTTE?

Some News articles addressed Terrorist Thamilchelvam as a moderator! Could they ever get further from the truth? Can these writers go down to such low levels just because they are paid in dollars? Everybody knows that Thamilchelvam was a child soldier turned terrorist killer and a known bloodthirsty sniper who was involved in most ethnic cleansing massacres of Sinhalees and Muslims in the north and he had to retire from his killing spree because he was injured in a battle and sustained serious injuries to his leg and eye resulting in a deformity & poor vision. Then he entered the rough political front which came forward to cover every barbarian act the LTTE did. This is the same terrorist who boasted that Sri Lanka will be made to bleed if the east was invaded and they will target civilians. Some media men seem to have amnesia!!

One media institute claims that this incident is sure to trigger “tit for tat” action by the LTTE. Let me remind them that the Sri Lanka Defense Forces can never be intimidated by a puppet organization who are on their last legs. LTTE can never even think of retaliation now and they are on the run. They have shown all signs of crumpling down, just as the Hitler’s Nazi regime showed in the latter part of WW 2.

It should be emphasized that a duly elected government of a country has the divine obligation to save its people from all kinds of terrorism and they may use any strategy in doing so. They should eliminate who ever poses a threat to the innocent peace loving citizens. Regardless of what the perpetrators call themselves, peace negotiators, brigadiers, son god or whoever, as long as they indulge in killing of the innocent and suppressing the masses by terror, they need to be eliminated the suffering masses saved.
