Big Power’ – Hypocrisy!

LA PEIRIS

Indian National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan has said "Sri Lanka, facing frequent air attacks from Tamil rebels, should not approach Pakistan or China for weapons though he added that India cannot supply 'offensive military equipment'. [May 31 – IANS] " It is high time that Sri Lanka understood that India is the big power in the region and ought to refrain from going to Pakistan or China for weapons, as we are prepared to accommodate them within the framework of our foreign policy'. [May 31 – IANS]

Did India listen to any power in the world, when you achieved nuclear weapons?
Did Sri Lanka question, as to why India proliferated the atmosphere in the region. India has no right to tell Sri Lanka, how to go about settling an internal conflict in Sri Lanka. The democratically elected government of Sri Lanka has not gone to India with a begging bowl to purchase the needs of the country for you to accommodate the requirements. These maybe loans, but they have to be repaid with interest and not freebies from the big brother.

Mr. Narayanan, a customer paying the price for goods purchased cannot be dictated by the supplier as to the goods he can or cannot have. If the customer is not satisfied with the goods or the price it is his choice to go elsewhere to do his purchase. Sri Lanka is a sovereign country, the government and people of Sri Lanka can go to Pakistan, China or Timbuktu, for weapons or whatever we require. Are you implying that Sri Lanka has to abide by India’s dictates, as to what military equipment they can or cannot have!

Mr Narayanan and the Indian establishment are aware that they are fully responsible for nurturing, military training, supply of weapons, funding and giving sanctuary to LTTE terrorist monsters. Mr Narayanan, the Indian Government is guilty of breaking International protocols, flying in Sri Lankan air-space, against international law and dropping weapons and aid to suicide bombing murderous vermin, and providing them the opportunity to escape, when the armed forces of Sri Lanka with its limited resources had the terror dogs cornered and at their mercy. How would the Indian government react if the GOSL allowed access and help to terror Groups in India.

It is presumed that the Indian government, supplies defensive and offensive weapons needed by the armed forces of India to combat terrorists or terrorism. Mr Narayanan, would not expect the gallant sons in the armed forces of India, to battle suicide bombing terrorists, with defensive weapons only and sacrifice their lives. It is obvious that you and other members of your government will not last a single day in office, if you fail in your duties to provide their requirements. However you expect the GOSL to send their gallant sons in the armed forces to combat one of the most ruthless suicide bombing terrorists with defensive weapons. This Mr Narayanan, is called Indian Hypocrisy.

Mr Narayan, take note that it is almost impossible to differentiate between a South Indian Fisherman and a Tamil Tiger terrorist from their appearance in varying and difficult circumstances. You, Karunanidhi, and Indian politicians are well aware that the LTTE terrorists use the Palk straits for smuggling and illegal activities. Why can’t the ‘big power’ with vast naval resources patrol the area and stop the terrorist operations. It is India’s responsibility to defend the coastline in the south of India. If Indian leaders are honest and not talking the talk like tongue twisting snakes in the grass, it is high time for India to act as a big power, take responsibility for their mistake in nurturing this monstrous terrorist bunch, and destroy them. India will be judged as a ‘big power’ by her actions and not by ‘Big talk’.
