SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY SAYS MAN MOHAN SINGH HAD NO GUILTY FEELINGS TO MEET WITH LANKA TERRORIST ENVOYS

By Walter Jayawardhana

India’s Janatha Party President Subramanian Swami attacked Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh as a man who had no compunction in meeting a pro-Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) delegation .

While attacking the Congress party for following a “soft or pro-terrorist” approach Dr. Swami who is a leading critic of the LTTE had earlier said the Congress Party’s change of policy to meet the proxy party of the LTTE is an insult to the memory of the late Rajiv Gandhi. Congress Party leader Sonia Gandhi is the widow of the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who was assassinated by a suicide bomber of the LTTE , in Tamil Nadu.

The Janatha Party leader said the killing of 62 people in Assam demonstrated the utter failure of India’s Central government in formulating an effective counter terrorist strategy.

Some intelligence reports say the United Liberation Front of Assom (ULFA) which is causing the carnage in Assam is being helped by the Sri Lankan separatist group , the LTTE.

The Janatha Party leader said the meeting of the pro-LTTE showed that Man Mohan Singh had no guilty feelings about meeting a pro-terrorist group from Sri Lanka.

Dr. Swami announced he had written a new book on Sri Lanka and it will be released in the Indian capital New Delhi , January 16. As part of the launch a panel discussion had been organized , he said.

He said Editor in Chief of the Hindu n. Ram, former Indian High Commissioner in Colombo, G. Parsasarathi, and S.C. Chandrahasan will be participating in the discussion. He said another former High Commissioner in Colombo N.N.Jha will moderate the discussion.
