A SOLDIER TEMPORARILY CLOSES DOWN
ENTRY/EXIT POINTS AT OMANTHAI
By Walter Jayawardhana
A Sri lanka Army soldier was killed and three others were injured
when the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam artileery guns shells the
entry/exit point at Omanthai.
The shelling on the guard post at the entry exit point compelled
to close down the entry exit point temporarily when the soldier was
killed at 7,45 a.m. April 10.
The army charged the Tamil Tigers were attempting to close down the
highway so that the supplies to the LTTE areas could be stopped and
food scarcities could be created during the Sinhalese/Hindu new year
festivals in the Wanni areas controlled by the LTTE.
The army said the injured soldiers by the LTTE shelling have been
rushed to the Vavuniya General hospital.
The attack just prior to the new year celebrations came after the
international Red Cross criticized the the killings of civilians in
two bus bombs in the Eastern and northern provinces. The bus bombing
had all the hall marks of the LTTE.
