LTTE INTER PARTY RIFT SPREADS
TO AN EUROPEAN CAPITAL
LEADING TO A GROTESQUE BATTLE IN AN OSLO STREET
By Walter Jayawardhana
An inter Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rift now attributed
to a clash between the Sea Tiger Leader Soosai and the LTTEs intelligence
Chief Pottu Amman that spread to one of the European cities made headlines
in the Norwegian capital Oslo consequently for two days when Three
men were shot, stabbed and run down by a car in what police are calling
a "grotesque" battle within Oslo's Tamil community late Sunday
afternoon, as the Aften Posten of Oslo described.
Oslo is resident to thousands of LTTE cadres and it is integrated with
the countrys socialist Labor Party. Many LTTE news websites and
other activities are operated from Oslo. Since Norway is not a member
of the European Union the ban by the EU of the terrorist group does
not effect the Sri Lankan separatist group there. It was in Norway the
LTTE allegedly stole thousands of Norwegian passports and sold them
to Al Qaeda linked terrorist group in Algeria.
Reporting the clash between the two Tamil factions the English version
of the Aften Posten published the following report including photographs
of weapons strewn over a streets and a play ground including that of
a Samurai sword which was allegedly used to cut off an arm of a Tamil
victim:
Three men were shot, stabbed and run down by a car in what police
are calling a "grotesque" battle within Oslo's Tamil community
late Sunday afternoon.
The raw violence erupted around 6pm, when two men were shot repeatedly
in broad daylight in the Kalbakken district of the capital on the city's
northeast side.
One of the victims was also attacked with what police are calling
a Samurai sword, in addition to being shot several times in the chest.
Newspaper VG reported that one of the man's arms was chopped off, but
police wouldn't confirm that.
Doctors at Ullevål Hospital in Oslo worked through the
night trying to stabilize him and save his life. His condition remained
critical on Monday.
A second victim was also reported in critical condition after suffering
multiple gunshot wounds. A third victim was treated at Oslo's emergency
clinic after being hit by what police believe was a car driven by the
assailants.
There were at least 10 witnesses to the bloody shootout, including
several young children, and police were scrambling to secure their accounts
of events. Police said they found handguns, knives and the sword strewn
over the scene around the football field at Nordvedt.
Police couldn't confirm what set off the violence, but said it
apparently followed "an event" the day before, believed to
be tied to a conflict within the Tamil community. All three victims
are Tamils.
F.Rovik, the leader of the Oslo based organization called Norwegians
Against Terrorism said , The shooting in Oslo have been headline
news for the second day. The only politicians speaking out in the Norwegian
media are the pro LTTE Labor Party.
He said on Sunday evening one of the Labor Party leaders Mr. Jan Bøler
had an emergency meeting with the local LTTE leader Yogarajah Balasingham
to hammer out a strategy for damage control.
The timing of the LTTE shootout in Oslo, said Rovik,
could not have come at a worse time. Norway is in the middle of an election
campaign and this is bad news for the Labor party and their LTTEs
Mr. Yogarajah Balasingham. The LTTE leader Balasingham says the shooting
episode has damaged the Tamils reputation for years to come and he tried
to give the blame of the shooting solely on non-Norwegian Tamils.
Rovik added, Tiger thugs have had a free run in Norway to attack
rival Tamils. One of the first to be attacked was Ketheeswarn Loganathan,
the peace activist who was killed in Colombo by Tiger assassins. He
was first attacked in Oslo Norway when he and an EPRLF MP were attending
a course at the Peace Research Institute Oslo. Norway has turned a blind
eye to the criminal activities of the Tigers who have infiltrated into
the Norwegian left-wing political parties.
He further charged, The LTTE has previously damaged the Norwegian
Tamils name with their credit card fraud and the bribery scandals were
they were able to buy passports and arms from the Norwegian police.
It is now suspected that the narcotic distribution in Europe closely
connected with the LTTE is linked to this clash between the Soosai and
Pottu Amman factions.
