IF THE UNP IS HAVING ALL THE POWER ITS CLAIMING WHY IS IT ASKING JVP HELP TO TOPPLE THE GOVERNMENT?By Walter JayawardhanaAddressing a Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Womens Front meeting
in Anuradhapura, parliamentarian K.D. Lal Kantha asked if UNP is possessing
the power it is claiming to have why is it requesting the JVP for their
help to topple the Mahinda Rajapaksa government. Not only the UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe but his only ally
Mangala Samaraweera is asking the JVP help to topple the government
and all that show that they cannot do it , Lal Kantha said. He said people in Anuradhapaura should ask their leader what happened
to the leadership of the party in Anuradhapura and where is it now?
He said even at Anuradhapura the party has become headless because it
has left the party to join the government. The UNP cannot tell whether
its leader in the area is Harrison or Ekanayaka, who has received
the most number of preferential votes. They are all in the government
now. Asking the people to look little beyond Anuradhapura Lal Kantha said
the leader in Puttlam Neomal Perera has left the party. The leader of
Gampaha area and the Deputy leader of the party Karu Jayasuriya has
left the party. The whole leadership of the Colombo District has left the party and
are in the government benches. The whole UNP is a washed out party and
how could they topple the government. Their National Conference has
become a mere non entity, Lal Kantha said. The JVP parliamentarian added that the so called National Congress
of Ranil Wickremesinghe and Mangala Samaraweera has become such a failure
and thats the reason why they are desperately calling the JVP
to help them and even if the JVP helped them they would not be able
to achieve their goal of toppling the government. He said so far 43 UNP parliamentarians have left the UNP and they could
could see the pathetic scene of Ranil Wickremesinghe shouting with a
handful of inexperienced boys boasting of toppling the government. Lal Kantha said after all those futile boasts of toppling the government
the UNP leader was now boasting ousting the government at the Budget
debate. He said even if the JVP supported them he was sure that the UNP would
not be able to defeat it. He said the JVP cannot decide whether it was
opposed to the budget or not since the budget is not yet known. |
