ERICSSON OF SWEDEN BECOMES LEAD PARTNER FOR BUILDING DIALOG TELEKOM’S 3-G NETWORK IN SRI LANKA

Sweden based telecommunication giant Ericsson announced that it has been chosen as the lead partner for building Dialog Telekom’s 3-G network in Sri Lanka.

3-G , a shorten form for third generation technology that is used in the context of mobile phone standards tells about a server’s ability transfer simultaneously voice data and non-voice data.
Voice data here is a regular telephone call and non-voice data is such as downloading information like in a computer , exchanging emails and instant messaging. Video telephony, the ability to see the other party speaking to one has become the craze out of all applications among the young adults in this system.

Ericsson announcing the deal said , that under the contract it would provide the core network besides supplying a core of the radio access network for Dialog’s 3-G net roll out in Sri Lanka.
The project will offer mobile users in Sri Lanka access to broadband services, besides video telephony, mobile TV streaming, IP telephony, and GPS-based services, Ericsson stated.

Ericsson is a world-leading provider of telecommunications equipment and related services to mobile and fixed network operators globally. Over 1,000 networks in 140 countries utilize their network equipment and 40 percent of all mobile calls are made through their systems, the company claims. They are one of the few companies worldwide that can offer end-to-end solutions for all major mobile communication standards.

Through their Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications joint venture they also offer a range of mobile devices, including those supporting multimedia applications and other services allowing richer communication.

Their origins date back to 1876. The parent company is Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson and headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden.
