By Walter Jayawardhana

Sri Lanka Air Force fighter aircraft engaged in night sorties destroyed the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam ( LTTE) training camp at Periya Pachchilai Pallai just South of the government controlled Jaffna town.

Sri lanka military sources said that Mig-27 and Kfir jets dropped heavy payloads making extensive damage to the LTTE military training facilities during the night of Thursday April 19 at 10 p.m.
Military sources further said, “The night sorties were carried out with precision air strikes destroying the terrorist training facility. Observation units confirmed that huge fire balls were seen looming from the LTTE dominated area, with a series of explosions.”

The sources further said that enemy casualties are expected to soar as intercepted LTTE communication circuits were busy with pleas for immediate casualty evacuations and reinforcement to secure the FDLs fearing a possible surprise assault.

Meanwhile the same sources said, according to military intelligence sources that a senior LTTE cadre identified as Sivapalasuntheram Gunaseelan, alias Kalaiyalaagam was killed on Wednesday(18), following a successful air raid at a strategically important LTTE location at Puthukkudiyiruppu in the East of Kilinochchi.

Periya Pachchilai Pallai is located approximately 12.5 miles south east of Pallai in the Jaffna district.
The military sources said the air force used night vision equipment to identify its targets.
